Cooper 74 Newport 0 (Frosh)

See my above point about Cooper's freshman team the first year. These kids came from the BCPWFL and struggled, winning a game. Played the same competition as this year pretty much. I'm not saying that there is a lack of talent in the pee wee leagues because there is and i stay up to date with it. But how do you know in February if a kid is coming to your school, or going to boone, conner, ryle, beechwood, highlands, covcath, or newcath? A few of the better players for Cooper's freshman team weren't originally going to Cooper; they were either headed for beechwood or somewhere else.

The point I have made is that the BCPWFL has talented players every year. This feeds (4) HS. You do not make a decision to play at the small school level, knowing that incoming freshman can arrive with a very talented group. Yes, it is unknown in Feb., but the % is high they will have talented players arriving. The small school decision was the 'easy' choice. It should not have been made. All incoming freshman at the Boone Cty. HS's are equal. The upper level program success does not impact the Freshman.

So last year when Cooper was getting beat on the freshman level by these lower level schools they still should have been playing in the higher division? :ohbrother:

Did Cooper get a new freshman coach this year? I ask because in my experience, a team's results at the freshman level are impacted more by the coach than any other level. Maybe Cooper's freshman team is that much better this year because of the coach?

Yes, they do have a new coach. His name is Shawn Walsh and was an assistant last year on Conner's freshman team. He has also coached several years in the BCPWFL as coach of the Wolverines. He has done a great job with these young men. They have a lot of talent but you need a coach that can blend it and have them play as one.
