That is a very good running tandem, and when you throw in an ever improving Mitchell at QB, by the end of the season, this Corbin team will be hard to handle. Fritz definitely looked healthy, making sharp cuts and making defenders miss. Taylor was the POG on Friday IMHO. He made several big plays. The first down on the fake punt, the fumble recovery on a bad snap that kept the possession with Corbin, etc. He made big plays when his team needed them.

 

Corbin lost 26 yards on that bad snap, then ended up getting a first down(on a Taylor reception) and eventually a TD on that possession. If he does not recover that snap(not sure how on earth he got it as 3 NL players seem to have a better shot at it), North gets the ball inside the Corbin 40 yard line with some momentum. That play could have been a 2 TD swing itself.

Like I said, I thought Taylor made HUGE plays everytime Corbin needed them. That first down on the fake punt was also HUGE. He, like the other Corbin backs, really runs hard.

Corbin by a bunch. They have to many weapons for South.

BUT, ... if it weren't for the turnovers, that very well may have been a very close game. Early on, North moved the ball on Corbin and Corbin could not move it on North. But 3 first half turnovers absolutely killed the Jags. Last year, at the end of the 1st half, Corbin led South 3-0. Then both teams exploded for a lot of points in the 2nd half. The difference this year, is I don't think South can explode on the ground like they did in their comeback against Williamsburg. I also think Corbin comes out even more fired up because South is one of the few teams in the area who actually put together a nice win streak against the Hounds for a few seasons.

 

In the past, South was able to put up big points with their high powered air attack. Being a ground attack plays much more into Corbin's hands. Vaughn is a very good back, but Corbin is the best team South will have played this season IMHO. I think Corbin by 3+ scores, but hope I am wrong.

I agree that it being Corbin, they will be ready to play. They MUST eliminate the turnovers that have plagued them all year. You cannot turn the ball over against a team like Corbin and expect to win. They will keep pounding away until they find their groove on offense and with their trio of backs and an improving QB in Mitchell, they are very dangerous.

 

I am impressed that South is hitting much harder this year than the past several years. They are more aggressive on defense and I like that. But if they turn it over like they have the first part of the season, it could be a long night.

I have no dog in the fight but I did play for both Larkey's at the Rock. I know they DO NOT teach kids to play dirty, hard and tough yes, but not dirty. I went back and re-read also. I took it like you said it. It is a shame some people have bad feelings for whatever reason. After reading the post you are talking about and knowing the kids and being at the games, sounds like people probably know who you are now since you apologized. I also want to say good luck to coach Welch, got to know you good at the Rock. Good guy.it is still a shame to down a coach when you have no clue what that person stands for.
