Ryan, I have said it before, Raceland, and many other schools, are not for everyone. And, I believe this to be a good example of the above being true. I am not being derogatory to any of these players or the schools that they previously attended, but at Raceland, if you want to be part of the football program, and other sports programs, you are expected to do certain things. If you don't do those things, you will not be happy, the coaches will not be happy, and you will not last at Raceland.

 

Some may say, Raceland is not that big of a deal, but I can assure you of one thing, things at Raceland are done the right way as much as can be expected, any anything else will not be excepted by the administration, the coaches, the teachers, the parents, and the fans. If you want to be part of something special, that's right I called Raceland special, you will have to sacrifice of your self, if you will not do that, you will not be there long.

 

It has been said that many transfers don't understand the Raceland philosophy, and that is sometimes right. Some student/athletes transfer to Raceland and really put the all in to being part of the program and learning what they have to learn to be part of the program, but some come and expect to do what they have done before and don't care about the program as a whole. The latter will never fit in, and be part of the "team concept".

 

I wish these young men success and hope they learn from this experience. I hope they find what they are looking for. But, I hope the most that they learn that running doesn't solve your problems and commitment is sometimes not easy, and if you want something you have to sacrifice.

 

My favorite definition of "Love" is: the irrational disregard for one's self for the betterment of another. That my friends is the only approach to a team sport. Without this love, you will never understand and learn the things that a player should learn from this great game of football.

To the Raceland players, I love you, as well as do many other people, we sacrifice for you, and we will continue to sacrifice for you. We will follow you all no matter what and cheer for you no matter the outcome of a game. You are the players, you control what happens from here on out.
