I couldn't believe this one wasn't posted yet. The game wasn't as close as the score might indicate. Ashland dominated from start to finish in this one. Ashland plays several Freshman on the JV squad, but I'm sure Raceland probably does as well. Ashland's program looks to have a bright future.

Raceland porobably is playing alot of freshmen on the JV, they usually do. Maybe even some Jr. high, not sure on that.

Congrats to the young Tomcats on the win :thumb:, I know that Ashland has alot of talent coming up.

Ashland played with several freshman. Both QBs were freshman. The sophomore and freshman classes at Ashland appear to be strong. It will take commitment and work to best take advantage of that strength. Here's to the next few years.

My understanding at Raceland is that any player that does not play Varsity, plays JV, be it 12,11,10, or 9 - with the upperclass man getting the nod.

Where I grew up, seniors were not permitted to play any sport on a junior varsity level. However, that was long ago and far away.

I didn't know Noah allowed football on the ark.

Seniors can't play JV, unless that's changed. Also, this game is probably a misnomer since Raceland usually has a smaller number of players and they have more lower classmen playing varsity and thus, not playing JV. I think the divide between smaller and larger schools really shows at the JV level.

I'm sure you're right, but I think Raceland beat Ashland in JV last year. I'm pretty sure I'm right because Ram wasted no time in posting that score. He hasn't even commented on this one. It's amazing the difference a year can make, or a win or loss can make.

Tis true. Usually happens ever so often, if the larger school plays a large number of lower classmen, or the smaller school has some exceptional talent like Raceland had last year. Raceland had an UNUSUALLY large number of seniors last year getting the majority of playing time on the varsity level, if I remember correctly.

To begin with, congratulations to Ashland on the win, they may well be strong in varsity for a while.

Secondly, some people have to "really" work for a living, and can't comment when it is convenient for you.:p

Thirdly, last year was the first year that I ever remember, in 20 years, that Raceland had a really strong JV. Our JV team is normally our Freshman team with a few sophomores. Maybe 1/3 of our sophomores. Not an excuse, they are there to get experience and that they get. We normally play around 5 Freshman games, and around 6-8 JV games. That gives the Freshmen a lot of experience, and helps develop the sophomores that may not be quit ready for varsity action. We have around 4 or 5 Sophomores this year who are either starting, or getting significant playing time on the varsity. The rest are getting ready to contribute next year.

Hope that helps explain all the things you have been wondering about.:p
