This one is at Russell County. Somerset is 2-0 with wins over Knox Central and Pulaski County. Russell County is 1-0 with a win over Campbellsville. Thoughts?

I'll take Somerset 35-14.

Jumpers seem to be on a roll and could be headed towards a very nice season. Somerset 40 Russell County 22

I'll take the Jumpers as well, however the Lakers seem to play us really hard. Somerset was up 2 or 3 scores last year only to have the Lakers come back to win the game. Somerset has won two tough games, but have quite a bit of work to do this week.

Work Hard this week and Good Luck Jumpers!!!!

What does Russell County return from last season and do they still run the same type offense.

I like how the Jumpers have started the season 2-0 overcoming adversity and playing good football as the underdogs. I'm guessing the Jumpers are the favorite this week. I say the winning streak continues to 3-0 with a win over the Lakers.

Russell County (4-7)

Head coach: Bill Sharp

2008: Lost to Calloway County 34-19 in the first round of the playoffs

Russell County was better than their 4-7 record indicated, but will have several big holes to fill in 2009.

Record-setting quarterback Bryon Ellis has graduated as have the top rusher and receiver from last year.

Senior Chad Beard and junior Jeron Hammond should see most of the carries in the backfield, while junior Martin Cross appears to have the inside track to start at quarterback.

Taylor Hutchison and Austin Hill are back at receivers for the Lakers, who also have a group of young linemen that saw plenty of action last year.

I copied this from the BGP football preview.

Somerset 34-13.

Somerset has 2 good wins this year. Bunnies 33-12.

I like Somerset in this one.

Somerset appears to be headed for something special this season, barring any other major injuries to the team. Senior WR Hunter Nelson is out with a broken collarbone, so someone will need to step up in a big way to fill his shoes. The Jumper defense has been rock solid as they have stopped their opponents twice on forth down to win their first 2 games. Somerset Junior Safety Taylor Sears stopped Knox Central Senior Chad Merida less than a half yard for the first down in week one, and Sears & Junior Zack Bastin stopped Pulaski County's Junior QB Zack Eastham on fourth and goal to help secure the 2 early wins for the Briar Jumpers.

As for Russell County, Junior Taylor Hutchison is very explosive and can put up big numbers, but word is he's out with an injury...anyone???? Junior QB Marty Cross appears to be leading the Lakers in the right direction, but if Hutchison’s injury is true, it could be a long night for the Lakers.

The Jumpers may have too much firepower as Junior QB Erick Manning has so many options to present havoc on teams this season.

Prediction - Somerset 34-Russell Co. 12
