In my case it's not so much liking the PA as hating the extra noise a really lousy one makes. Next to cheerleaders, I've always considered the PA as the most annoying thing at a given game.

Check that, grade school/middle school kids who always seem to sit near us with no interest in the game are the most annoying. The PA and cheerleaders are bad, but not that bad.

And you're certain my comment "A few players could learn from this" was directed specifically at him, are you? It was a comment made about players in general and that Collinsworth sets a great example by how he conducts himself on the field.

 

I've made numerous comments about Elliott being an outstanding player. Go back and read the threads if you like. And I had nothing whatsoever to do with any rumors about him during the summer, other than to tell a few people I couldn't imagine they were true - which they obviously weren't.

I will vouch for Coop on this one too. I sent him a PM when I heard the rumor this summer. Coop said these rumors were not true and defended the kid strongly.

Know Coop well. I also heard him say there was no way any rumors about Eliott were believeable and he speaks highly of the kid's ability.

Back to the game. This year I get to watch as my son has graduated. This is allot of fun. But I would like to add a comment about a player I've observed last year and then again this year. Logan Carney-pound for pound is one of the tuffest defensive players I've seen. He's quick, covers his man well and will put a stick on you! Ryle although they lost last week learned so much. Coach Warner plans to win every game and should. However, he is playing this schedule to improve the product at Ryle high School for one. IMO, this team will be more ready for conference play and most importantly the ability to compete in the final game in 6A. Even in the loss I see victories within.

Very much agree with Loke man. And, I look for the Raiders to improve drastically in play calling as they showed they can both run and throw the ball against a VERY good team. It just needs to be mixed up throughout the game and not run-1st half and pass only when behind. I came away from the game Friday night impressed with the Raiders' heart and potential this year. Lots of positives any time you rack up 350 yards and 25 first downs against a team as good as Highlands. And, I totally agree about Logan Carney. Very good player and tuff kid. One last point alluded to in this thread about Travis Elliott. Great player and great young man who will continue to mature each week. May every kid that suits up strive to play with the heart of a lion like he plays with.

I agree and this is coming from a Highlands fan. I saw the coach talking to Elliott when he would come out of the game and I know he will continue to work on controlling his emotions and letting them out at the right times throughout the game.

Conner has always impressed me as a good QB and one tough kid as we witnessed on a late game INT (what a hit he delivered). It was obvious that Conner wanted that pass back but how many times do you see this happening late in a game because the QB is trying to score and the D is dropping back in coverage. All and all this game is only going to help both teams progress as the season continues.:clap:
