I believe Owen will be a surprise to some. They will need to work together more and perform at the level they are capable. If they do that, I think they will be very successful in the upcoming year-all returning starters and an improving bench. People are looking at Gayheart alot, and she is good i agree, although some of the returning players are just as good! It should be a good year for the rebels and exciting to watch!

If there are some other players as good as Gayhart, they would be #1 in the region. Owen will go as Gayhart goes.

Agreed. There are no other players as good as Gayhart on the team and none other who have worked as hard or put in the hours she has put in but there are other very good players on the team. If Owen's opponents think that all they have to do is stop Gayhart they are mistaken.

That may not be the case this season, but it certainly appeared to be that way last year....

I think the lady Rebels will be one of the top teams in the region. They Have IMO the top player in the 8th region in Gayhart, and a top 10 player in Kemper. They also have a lot of talent in the freshman class. The key will be. Will their coach have the nerve to play the younger more talented players. (IMO)

I would agree but the coach has to settle them down and not let Gayheart get out of control.

I watched Owen play 5 or 6 times last season. Are we talking about the same player #5. I was extremly impressed with her floor game.

Yes, #5 is a good player. Needs to be more of a team player. Look at the stats. Lots of attempts and misses when team mates are wide open. A little selfish. Got a freshman coming in that is just as good but better because she is a "team" player. Hope their coach isn't afraid of putting her in when #5 is having a bad game. (Everyone has those!)

I agree Owen has some talent in the Freshman class - but #5 would start on every team in the region if she went to that school. As stated before - as she goes Owen will go. I do think that the incoming Freshman class will be very important to Owen success this season (I don't know why the coach would not play them, especially if they are better). I would think that the Neeley girl would see a lot of varsity time this year.

Well it sounds like you have good access to the stats...i don't and have not seen as many games as maybe you have, but if you have the stats, then the true story about selfish ball is revealed by looking at the assist stat. Who lead in assists last year for Owen?.. And how many assists did not get counted because a player missed a shot that should have been made and therefore it would have/should have been counted as an assist.... I agree Owen has a strong freshmen class this year....it will be interesting to see how the coach puts them in the team mix...some may be stronger that some of the Juniors/Seniors.

#5 is an extremely talented young lady. She made some freshman mistakes last year, as expected. However, I don't see any freshman on the team this season that can play up to her caliber.

If they have two of the top 10 players in the region, how will they "suprise" anyone? Shouldn't they be a clear cut #2 behind South?

Yes...She is AWESOME!!! And she is just a sophomore. She will gain two more years of strength and ability by her senior year and VERY fun to watch!!!!

From the few games that I seen last year, Owen struggled with the outside shot. Neeley will help them a lot if she gets PT. I may be wrong but I believe she broke Gayhearts scoring records in the 8th grade last year.

Not that 8th grade scoring records amount to much when it comes to varsity, Neeley broke the single season scoring record. Gayheart still holds the overall scoring record for MBMS. Neeley has a lot of potentional. I look forward to watching her and Gayheart play TOGETHER.
