August 24, 200917 yr I was still pretty surprised when I found out that it was based off of a Stephen King novel. The movie is based on King's short story, "The Body" which was included in a collection titled Different Seasons published in 1982. I am probably the most die-hard King fan on this board:D:D.

August 26, 200917 yr Good movie. Wish I could find it in stores. Try Walmart in the markdown movie box, I've dug in for for a few minutes and found a few movies. Thought I saw a copy of this movie in there.
August 26, 200917 yr Great movie. Jerry O'Connell, who played Vern - the heavyset kid - went on to a have a very nice career in TV and the movies. He slimmed down and had a starring role in a series called "Sliders"; my daughter and I watched it a lot in the mid 90s.
