Simon Kenton/Newport Central Catholic (@ Nippert) Predictions

Featured Replies

Did SK play on opening night? Or was it a scrimmage game somewhere. On their schedule it says they dont play til Aug. 29th against NewCath. How could he have been hurt if there was no game?

My prediction is that this is where Miles Simpson will be playing next year. For the Cincinnati Bearcats. Now, by no means do I really know, but living in No. KY, these are the rumblings I have heard.

For the game, I will take Simon Kenton by 10.

This would be a great fit for him.

I heard he may have an achilles tendon injury. Any more news? Hopefully everything is OK with this talented young man.

I will not go into injury details since he is not my son, but I assure to all of you here Miles Simpson WILL be on the field on Saturday.:ylsuper:

IMO Mr. Simpson is going to have a huge day! He will shine in the Big East stadium and Brian Kelley will surely be around somewhere.

Simpson will have a big day if he is healthy. But him having a big day against this years version of NCC, right now anyway, won't be what gets him in at UC. From all accounts, NCC isn't what they usually are but with time, I'm sure they will be where they need to be. Simon looks to be on top of it already. Maybe a game later in the season will be a better barometer for Simpson.

NCC 20 - SK 14 simply because I think NCC's defense shows up on the big stage. I also think on each's best day, NCC's defense is better overall than the entirity of the SK offense even with arguably the best runningback in NKY. Thats a bold statement, I know, but after last week's performance its tougher to predict 20 points for a young Breds offense than to say theyre defense will prevail over Miles Simpson and the Pioneers offense. Anyone know the status of Jake Cain and Brady Hightchew and where we can expect to see both on that inexperienced NewCath offense?

Miles healthy isn't arguably the best back in NKY, but perhaps the state. If he's even close to 100% I look for SK to win by about 17.

It's going to come down to Simon Kenton being able to stretch the field. NewCath looked good against the run against Dixie. Their problems were in coverage and losing their rush lanes to allow Miller to scramble. They held Simpson to under 100 last year, and this year's defense isn't too far behind last year's at this point. It is the offense that is suffering growing pains.

This is GREAT to hear!! I haven't seen too much of NewCath, but heard they're really young. If this is the case and Dixie beat them by 13, I'll take SK by 28. I think the Pioneers are at least 2 touchdowns better than Dixie and Lawrence showed last week he can chuck the ball around if needed.

SK will walk (or should I say run) all over the Breds. This will be no contest for those on the hill

SK 42

NC 12

A. I would love to see NewCath score 12 pts, and B. I don't see them giving up 42. Dixie scored twice in the 4th quarter on very, very short fields. NewCath has got to get better in the kicking game.

I think SK wins in a closer game than people might think. I think NC comes back strong after last weeks showing against Dixie.

Ha! I sqwuak boldly at the statement of best RB in NKY. Miles Simpson IS the best RB prospect in KY, period. Atleast heading into this season that is. If healthy, he will run all over NCC and any other team on his schedule. The kid is a stud. And, it wont be his performance against NCC in Nippert that gets him to a school like UC, it will be his performances from last season, and his performances this season (again, if healthy) that will carry him where he needs to be.

Must we not forget that he must perform in the classroom. I dont know of his academics enough to comment there. But, I am sure he is a fine kid and does what he needs to.

Football wise, he gets it DONE.
