Ohio State kicker and Raceland,Ky. native Aaron Pettry has been named to the watch list for the 2009 Lou Groza award given to the nations best place kicker. This is quite an honor for Aaron, he is a great kid from a great family. I also hope to see Aarron kicking on Sundays (NFL) after this, his senior season with the Buckeyes................Congrats to Aaron Pettry!!:thumb:

This nomination is an epecially high honor just to be nominated. I believe that there were 30 place kickers named to the watch list. With 119 NCAA/football schools and most have more than one kcker..... that is putting him some very select company.

Congrats.. dont know much about him and his HS career but congrats.

Played for the Raceland Rams from 2000-2003. Aaron holds the current Kentucky state field goal record at 58 yards, kicked in 2003 against the Berea Pirates. Holds the record for highest career completion percentage at 71.3%. And Ranks 3rd in completion percentage in a single season(2003) at 72.2%.

Hoping for a great season and future NFL career for Aaron. I got the priviledge to hold the ball for him a couple of times practicing a 60+ field goal, he never missed. He seemed like a great kid.

Aaron Pettry update: Aaron Pettry was 3-3 on FG's in today's game with Navy, hit from 23, 27 and 52 yards out. Pettry did miss a p.a.t. kick, only the 2nd miss of his carrer at OSU. Aaron only missed one FG last season splitting time on the FG duties.

As great as the 52 yard FG was (and it cleared by a mile), I guarantee you he is more upset with the missed PAT than he is happy with the FG.

:thumb: Did you happen to see the look on his face later when they showed him on the sideline? Anyone that knows how he played the game and got on himself knew that look.
