North Oldham 2009/2010

I agree with what your saying Log Mountain Boy but this post is about NO not those schools you mentioned. North presses and scrambles on defense giving up easy baskets wanting a high possession game. The teams you mentioned shoot quick shots at times but in basketball thats called seeing if the other team is back. Those teams rarely shoot quick bad shots and NO has in the past.

Again, back to my previous posts. It's not about scheme...it's about DISCIPLINE, FUNDAMENTALS, and DEFENSE. The uptempo scheme is not North's problem...it all comes down to execution.

There problem is they want the ball back so much they don't defend.

I thought there was a rule that said that colleges were not allowed to contact or recruit a player until something like May or June of his Sophomore year of high school. Did I dream that?

How old is Hicks anyway? I know he is a "freshman" but is he a true freshman?

Take this for what you want, but I know for a fact that Hicks started kindergarden at Simpsonville Elementary the same year that the junior class at Shelby County High School started kindergarden. I also know for a fact that Hicks played 4th grade Junior Tackle Football in Shelbyville during the same season that the juniors at SCHS played 4th Grade Junior Tackle.

Different coaches have different styles - and usually the team with the best players who execute their style - WIN!! Some coaches taylor their style to their players while some coaches have one style of play and do that year in and year out. What is best?? That's why you play the games!!!

Meaning he was held back two years??? That doesn't quite fit with the story about how academically gifted this kid is...

What purpose does it serve to say all that? Hes a teenage kid. I hope all goes well with the young man and he becomes a big time college ad maybe even pro player.

AMEN! This forum should be about supporting the kids! :thumb:

I was stating that it looks fishy when a team gets 2 transfer that can play or even start. I wasn't saying its ok if they can't play or if they can. I was saying it looks odd if a school gets 2 transfers that come in and start right away. I heard the other player was Eastern's 6th man last year. My source is reliable as well, I heard he has been there at open gyms and is enrolled in school. Now this could be fiction I don't know.

PP - Your source was right about a transfer from Eastern...but that's it. The kid from Eastern has never played ball before, but will be in the North program. It looks like he's slated to be on the JV squad...hardly "starter" material right now!

That style you talk about is also the style that gets them beat in the post season. Proven fact a team can win games playing like that early in the season, but come tournament time it doesn't work. And the style everyone hates in Shelby produces runs to the final 4 in the state tournament. Just look at last year when SO beat them and shouldn't even been in the game.

And open enrollment in Louisville means that kids choose a SCHOOL IN LOUISVILLE not Lexington. Im just saying the whole thing looks odd but I understand how the game works and hey maybe it will work out for North and maybe it won't. BUT I do agree with one thing the 8th will be very interesting this year. Looks like 2 of districts are going to duke it out. Shelby dropped North so that game must be in the tournament.

Shelby did not drop North. The two will play on 1/22/09 in Goshen.

I am sorry if I offended you guys with my talk about the player. I do not wish any bad will on any high school kid I was just simply bringing some facts to the table. Colonel Mike that game was scheduled but after the transfer Shelby dropped them. I HEARD THAT STRAIGHT FROM THE HORSE'S MOUTH...... That was 3 weeks ago though I guess they could have changed their mind.

No offense taken at all! This is a forum...all of us want to know the facts, and are piecing them together as best we can...

There seems to be some confusion on the game. Not doubting you at all, PP - I was told tonight by another source tonight that the game was off - but the NOHS head coach told me yesterday that the game was still on and that he had not been contacted by Shelby County.

I don't know. At this rate, we won't know until 1/22/10...

It's really a shame all this is going on...I doubt anyone would have said a word if the kid's best friend had been going to Trinity or Manual...but it's within the same region, and there's always that "...if I can't have him, YOU can't have him, either!!" attitude when that happens.

I suspect it's going to be real fun in Shelbyville next year when MLK HS opens...

...Hicks is headed back to Shelby.

It has to do with personal issues.
