August 12, 200917 yr An apropos quote from Michael Medved: In this [economic] environment, you have something of a push to be outrageous, to be on the fringe, because what you’re desperately competing for is… P-1 listeners [those who tune in most frequently]. The percentage of people on the fringe who are P-1s is quite high[...] As a result, talk radio hosts are feeling more pressure than usual to yell harder, scream louder, and insult further. [Talk shows] are fighting for an ever- smaller pie, [which means that] you’ve got to be even louder about it because you’re trying to get the attention of an ever-smaller niche. Link
August 12, 200917 yr I read a little bit of Glenn Becks book and for a few days I thought I might like him. I then read a little more, and watched his show some. I do not like him at all .
August 12, 200917 yr Apparently, others are bothered by Beck as well. His show has lost sponsors in the last few weeks. He just isn't very good, at least on the radio. I haven't tried to watch his show.
August 12, 200917 yr I think Beck is in a league of his own and I can't stand Hannity but he's no Beck. Have you found something that O'Reilly/KO/Maddow/Matthews have lied about or is just THEM that you don't like? I'm only talking about flat out lies like this one. I have one from Maddow but will have to find it.
August 12, 200917 yr Found it. http://newsbusters.org/blogs/jack-coleman/2009/07/24/maddow-offers-corrections-buchanans-remarks-race-misquotes-him

August 12, 200917 yr I'll sit and wait for Clyde to criticize Maddow for that one...... I guess it's possible that Maddow didn't lie but is just that stupid.
August 12, 200917 yr I've managed to run across Boortz a few times late at night on WSB in Atlanta. Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised. I don't agree with him a great deal of the time, but his show had much less rancor and more reasonable discussion/analysis than the others I hear regularly. He's a regular in our area and the best thing about Bortz is that he's consistent. He's a Libertarian, pure and simple. Bortz jumped all over Bush when he strayed from Libertarian and Conservative policies. I too don't always agree with him, he can be condescending at times with call-in's but he is very consistent. I've even heard him talk to his regular guest, who is his Congressional analyst, and spout some email type spin on something. When his Congressional analyst told him that was not the true case, Bortz retracted the tenor of his accusation and stopped ranting about it. That was a rare thing for radio hosts (any side of the aisle). :thumb:

Much to your chagrin, UKMF, I'm not a fan of Ms. Maddow. Perfect, perfect example of what we're talking about in this thread. Its 100% obvious that Pat B was using a hypothetical.
August 12, 200917 yr Much to your chagrin, UKMF, Nope, it would just be nice if you were consistent with your criticisms every now and then....
August 12, 200917 yr Glenn Beck, an idiot, saying something idiotic, makes me support President Obama's policies more. Not a good reason to support Obama. On the other side, it also isn't a good idea to oppose Obama because of the idiots on the left. There are idiots everywhere, and I have quit watching any of them. 90% of them have an agenda, to spread their opinion as fact. An example to me is that when Clinton left office, many on the right continued to bash he and his administration. Same now with Bush, many on the left continue to bash him. They all have their agenda, and it isn't reporting the truth, ... just the truth as they see it. And if you don't agree with them, you are an idiot or a fool. The majority of the national media has lost all credibility in my eyes.

He is also consistent in his beliefs. I would much rather listen to him than Limbaugh.

Anyone who bases their opinions on anything Glenn Beck says, or his left-wing counterparts, whether it is in support or opposition to a politician of either side of the spectrum, is making a mistake.
