PERFECT Example of the Problem with the Media Today

Warning: I think Glenn Beck is a nut case and probably lives in his shelter he built below his house. He's not stable.

With that I also realize this is but one example of many that are out there but since we have a Dem POTUS and since the radio and TV airwave talk shows are dominated by right wingers this current example is against them.

From his recent show:

BECK: Barack Obama's got to be tickled pink with all of the people getting involved and being informed. Yet, here's his reaction to the health care protests.

OBAMA [video clip]: But I don't want the folks who created the mess -- I don't want the folks who created the mess to do a lot of talking. I want them just to get out of the way so we can clean up the mess. I don't mind cleaning up after them, but don't do a lot of talking.

BECK: OK, that's right. I totally spaced that part of the First Amendment -- you know, that it only applies to those who agree. It doesn't count if somebody disagrees.

The above would lead you to question the POTUS on his view of the First Amendment , correct? Thin skinned maybe? Not happy with people disagreeing?

However, here's the full text:

OBAMA: So, now, you got folks on the other side of the aisle pointing at the federal budget and somehow trying to put that at our feet. Well, let's look at the history. When I walked in, we had a $1.3 trillion deficit. That was gift-wrapped and waiting for me when I walked in the Oval Office. Without my policies, we'd have an even higher deficit going forward. The one exception is the recovery package that we had to do in order to get this economy moving again.

So you can't go out there and charge up the credit card, go on a -- all kinds of things -- shopping sprees on things that didn't grow the economy, hand over the bill to us, and say -- then say, "Why haven't you paid it off yet?" I got that bill from you.

So, we've got some work to do. I don't mind, by the way, being responsible; I expect to be held responsible for these issues because I'm the president. But I don't want the folks who created the mess -- I don't want the folks who created the mess to do a lot of talking. I want them just to get out of the way so we can clean up the mess. I don't mind cleaning up after them, but don't do a lot of talking. [Obama remarks in Tysons Corner, Virginia, 8/6/09]

Oh, so he was talking about Congress and NOT the citizens? That doesn't seem to be what Mr. Beck was implying.

Games like this hurt our cause.

This kind of garbage has been going on from both sides forever....Interestingly enough, I can't recall you ever posting a thread like this when Bush was in office regarding the other side.....:idunno:

.

Beck is a windbag.

Being a windbag is his first job as it is with many (even on MSNBC) but , man, show a little effort towards credibilty and legitimacy rather than hoping to fool the sheep.

Its one thing to show your politics by your opinions being offered and comments being made. Its a completely differnet animal to flat out lie.

Seriously, is there anyone on cable news that isn't similar to Beck? They're all the same. Olbermann, Matthews, Maddow on MSNBC and Beck, O'Reilly and Hannity on Fox.

I do like Anderson Cooper. Probably because he ventures outside the political world...

Do you have an example of a radio/tv host flat out lying? If so, bring it on here and lets call them out. Hard to find any since there is no liberal talk network. Dan Rather was already taken to task (although that has a bit more gray than this - which has none.) Who ya got?

Remember , there's a difference between lying and not liking the other side. Lying is unacceptable and , as I stated, hurts the country - regardless of who is lying.

I think Beck is in a league of his own and I can't stand Hannity but he's no Beck.

Have you found something that O'Reilly/KO/Maddow/Matthews have lied about or is just THEM that you don't like? I'm only talking about flat out lies like this one.

^^ I have to admit that I was disappointed that Rand Paul appeared on Glenn Beck's show. I guess it was to get publicity, but I don't know if that is the type of pub that he wants. I understand but disagree, I guess.

I do with the Huffington Post (not radio/tv host like you asked for) that I remember documenting on this site over 6 months ago that I can track down if anyone would like....

Was it the Post themselves lying or did they report on what someone else wrote/said?

As far as I know it was a Post writer. I'll track it down...

To each his own. I view them all the same. They all spin and misrepresent.

All commentators spin. Not all of them misrepresent facts and figures and outright lie.

You don't honestly believe that Obama was laying the blame on Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid do you?
