I would like to see him fight the Rashad vs Rampage winner. But then again I dont want to have to wait that long to see Silva fight again either.

I think he'd kill Rashad too. Machida and Silva are similar in their fighting styles, and Machida destroyed Rashad.

Rampage has been susceptible to the Muay-Thai clinch in the past...however, even in those fights, he took an incredible beating before being finished. That's why I think he'd have a chance. He's tough enough to absorb some punishment. To date, most of Silva's opponents can't withstand his onslaught. Maybe Rampage could weather a storm or two. And, if he could, maybe he could get in and land a big shot or get Silva to the mat in good position.

 

I don't know what kind of chin Silva has because I've never seen him get hit. :lol:

My honest opinion is that I think Anderson Silva could blow through the 205 pound division in similar fashion to what he did at 185. I thought that before I ever saw him move up and fight Irvin for his first LHW bout.

 

That's what I think.

 

But, Machida and Jackson are the only two guys that I think could challenge him. If he meets resistance, it will be from one or both of those guys (and possibly Shogun if he regains his PRIDE form, which I do not expect to happen).

I think you may be the only one who actually thinks he would win that fight. I mean anything can happen, but if they fought 100 times, I think the Spider wins 99.6 of them.

Only a few in the MW class would even stand a chance, not win...But a chance, We all know this is MMA fighting, Not boxing, Not a BJJ match...But I honestly feel that Maia would be the best chance to get a win from Silva right now, I may be wrong. It very well could be a 5 round fight, But Maia is the best in the sport at BJJ, And a lucky take down by him, could end the fight soon after...

I suppose a BJJ expert's as good a pick as any...I've seen fighters slip and fall on a slick spot before. The odds of that are probably higher than someone landing a lucky punch or actually outstriking him.

Rashad has some very sick power, but he's not as good as I once thought.

 

He should have lost to Tito Ortiz. They ended up in a draw because Tito got a point deducted.

 

He's good, but he's not the best by any means IMO. Machida made him look bad.

^ I think Evans' strength and wrestling would better benefit him against Silva than his striking. Still I don't see him beating Silva being the Spider is just as if not more elusive as Machida. Like you said, Machida made him look bad, and a betting man would make a safe bet with his money saying that Anderson would do the same.

 

You guys have talked about it, and count me in as one who would like to see Silva and Rampage hook it up. Rampage is the type of fighter who is all or nothing. He's either going to KO somebody with a highlight knockout, or he is going to get tagged himself, or tapped out via submission. If he and Silva fought, I would look for it to be a downright slug fest, and if Rampage were to catch Silva then he could win the fight. Although he looks as if he is just throwing wild, Jackson actually is a pretty controlled striker. Hard to go against Anderson Silva if this fight went down, but its not out of the realm of possibility that Rampage Jackson could catch him with one of his hooks or uppercuts and put him down. One thing that scares me given Jackson's history would be Anderson getting him in the Muay Thai clinch and just raining those knees the same way he did Franklin. BUT, if Rampage got a little seperation he could also maybe land one of his uppercuts, or in his terms one of those oooohh weeee punches. But since the clinch has kind of always gave Jackson trouble, I would still say he would more than likely get Rich Franklin'd by THE SPIDER.

 

 

Pretty much with all that being rambled, I would much rather see Anderson Silva in a match like that than in a match against a BJJ guy. Entertainment value goes up one hundred fold when he is in there with a guy not scared to stand and throw with him.

Great wrestler, strong chin = only people able to beat Silva/Machida.

 

Dan Henderson @ 34 owns both of them, Dan Henderson @ 38 is just enough slower that both will beat him.......but I want to see Henderson/Silva 2

Apparently Silva's manager Ed Soares, says that Anderson does not want to relinquish the middleweight belt. He wants to stay at middleweight and do fights at LHW as well.
