I've never had Fat Tire. What's it comparable too ?

It is VERY popular in the Western U.S. (brewed in Colorado) especially in many of the ski areas. It is quite good. Many members of the Lexington Ski Club swear by it.

I run somewhat of a liquor store.... anheuser busch is the one who is supposed to get the contract, but there is no set date of sale of rights of distribution yet. The main issue is that Yuengling is produced in a small factory and doesnt have mass production capabilities at this time. My bud rep said late 2010 would be the earliest.

So is it bad that I've never even heard of this? I don't consider myself to sheltered in the beer world so if this many people are diehard fans I'm surprised I don't know this beer.

From my experiences, since it is so new in WV (and in TN too, I believe), there isn't even a large following in those states. My encounters with the beer are primarily in the Carolinas.

If you ever end up in Louisville for any reason we need to make a trip to New Albany, IN to go to the New Albanian Brewing Company (formerly known as Rich-O's). The owner is a beer snob and he makes a point of it on his huge beer menu.

 

They also have Mead which inherently gives it a +10 to awesome.

Cumberland's Mead isn't really Mead. It is semi-sweet beer that has a honey flavor to it. Mead is much different from beer.

I've never had Mead at Cumberland or anywhere for that matter. I would love to try it sometime though.

Yeah, I've seen his column and tossed around the idea of skipping across the bridge to check it out his joint.

Love it! It's so much better on tap too. I remember my first encounter with Yuengling like it was yesterday.....at Chase's on the Beach in New Smyrna.

My girlfriend was eating lunch with a friend who is an employee at Drake's in Lexington....a beer rep was there today and he said Yuengling would be in KY by next year. I'm not sure if this means that it will be sold solely at restaurants and bars or also in cans & bottles, but either way, this is great news!

FWIW, Yuengling does operate a brewery in Tampa as well. But let us know what your rep says, and if you or him has any Yuenlingian influence, speed up the process.

West Virginia as well, there is a distributor in Huntington. I envy the Ashland folks....
