August 26, 200917 yr I thought I would revisit this thread. Since joining the Cardinals, Holliday is batting .387, 6 HR, and 27 RBI. Oh yeah, and St. Louis is 9 Games up in the division...

I don't by the concept of "protection" all that much, anyway. Teams are still trying to get Pujols out, and there will still be times that he gets walked intentionally. I don't see the rest of the NL taking much different an approach, even after the Holliday deal. August stats: Pujols; 21 runs, 28 hits, 7 HR's, 17 RBI's, .304 BA, 1.084 OBP Holliday; 20 runs, 34 hits, 7 HR's, 26 RBI's, .340 BA, 1.039 OBP Ludwick; 8 runs, 20 hits, 1 HR, 13 RBI's, .233 BA, .604 OBP A fairly short time span, but IMO Holliday has made a huge difference to this team, as they are now 10 games up, and playing the best ball in the NL (possibly the Phillies, but I doubt it). I do not know how often Pujols is being walked compared to before though.
