July 20, 200917 yr I will vote no, but I hope he has because I really like Chris Henry. I agree. He could help the Bengals out a lot if he stays out of trouble. Edited July 20, 200917 yr by mcpapa
July 20, 200917 yr Where is all this talent? He's been in the league 4 years already. He's played in 47 NFL games and caught a total of 107 passes. That's just over 2 a game. He's nothing more than a 3rd receiver on a good team. With his baggage he's much less than that until he proves otherwise. Where is all the talent? It's in his 6'4'' frame. The guy is a very good athlete & I think he'll have a monster season if he can stay on the field. I'm skeptical, but maybe all of that trouble is truly behind him. I just wish he was a little tougher on the field. You won't see him make many plays over the middle.
July 20, 200917 yr How long did Cincy resign him for? I see him starting over either one of the over-rated veterans on the team. JMHO

He has been 6'4" the entire time he's been in the league hasn't he? He's made some good plays here and there but he's done nothing to show that he can be a quality #1 or #2 receiver in the NFL in 4 years. Maybe he makes the leap this year but I don't see it.

Athletically, he's as talented as anyone. He has not been able to stay on the field for the majority of 4 seasons, so we really haven't had many opportunities to judge his play. The only complaint I have about what he has done on the field thus far is that he's been soft over the middle & has ducked instead of gone after a few balls.
July 21, 200917 yr I hope. I just picked him in fantasy football. I'm betting he keeps it together for a season at least. If he does, I like his upside. I think he's got the talent to be the best receiver on the Bengals roster.
July 21, 200917 yr Come on AJG. You're smarter than that. Henry is as physically and athletically gifted as any WR in the league. The talent is their, it's just a matter of whether or not he's matured enough to reach his potential.
July 21, 200917 yr For the sake of the Bengals, they better hope so... Henry could be a very reliable and effective receiver if he ever decides that's what he wants to do.

July 22, 200917 yr That was the point I was trying to make. If he had the right attitude and work ethic, he'd be a pro-bowler, IMO. You can't teach 6'4, 200 pounds with that kind of athleticism.
July 22, 200917 yr I cringed when I saw this thread because I was intending on picking him in our fantasy football draft...I was hoping most people had just forgot about Chris Henry and was afraid this thread might make somebody think he was worth a shot later in the draft. I was considering taking a shot on him being around for my next picks, but couldn't risk it. The way I figure, we often take shots on rookies with big upside. Well, Henry has the upside and he's been around enough to have learned some lessons rookie haven't...he's got a great QB and TJ is gone, so there's an opportunity for him to earn a bigger role this season. Also, he's proven, to some degree, that there's big potential there... In his first two seasons, he played in 27 games, caught 67 passes and had 15 TD's. I like the upside and at this point, I thought it was a reasonable risk/reward.
