July 21, 200917 yr And then get beat before the 1st weekend is over?:sssh: I don't think so, but recent history might suggest otherwise. I sure wish they still had Gerald Henderson though.
July 21, 200917 yr And then get beat before the 1st weekend is over?:sssh: Going by last year, UK fans have no room to talk......:sssh: Duke was in the Sweet 16 last year....of the NCAA tourney, not the POST season NIT.:ohbrother::idunno:
July 21, 200917 yr There are certainly some interesting teams/rivals//potential matchups for U.K. in that South bracket..................... WKU (in state) Ok. St. (T.Ford) Tenn. (self explanatory) LSU (in conf.) Duke (..Who?, lol.) Xavier (Cincy very close to Lex.) Murray St. ( in state but I don't believe they would get by Duke ) I can see that things are back to normal in this state......football season hasn't started yet and the talk is basketball.

July 21, 200917 yr The reason Duke hasn't been a legit national title threat since they won it in 2001 is that they haven't had a truly dominant post presence since Boozer and Battier were there. If they can get that, they'll be fine. Kentucky's been fortunate to get Patterson-3 years ago-and Orton and Cousins this year. UK could potentially flop and lose in the first or second round this year, but until then you know UK fans are going to claim this is the greatest team ever, they're going to win it all, etc. A lot of it is unsubstantiated speculation, but you are going to have that when a team looks as promising as UK does and the fan base is as hungry as UK's is. I think Kansas wins it all, but I wouldn't be surprised if Kentucky won.

Even so, in those last 4 years, we have still been considerably better than UK, so again, at this current moment, the only thing you can brag about to any Duke fan is that you are currently better on paper. Going back and checking out schedules and results from the last year to 2000 heavily leans in Duke's favor.

That team lost to LSU in the Sweet 16 because that team had no depth and they were completely worn out by that time. JJ also had a very hard time with Tyrus Thomas guarding him. I wouldn't be surprised if UK won, or Kansas, or Villanova. Or some team no one expects.
July 22, 200917 yr Brackets this early are comical. I agree, not really worth talking about but we are bored. :ohbrother:

Let's get this straight...Duke was a choke job in the second half of the 2004 Final Four away from cutting down the nets....they are a legit title contedner more years than not.
