State may pay in handling of Gillispie firing

Featured Replies

Because the majority of UK fans probably don't pay taxes...:sssh:

Excuse me! What did you say?

This is just crazy really. UK needs to pay the man and be done with this so we can forget that chapter of UK basketball.

Why in the world wouldn't UK athletics pay this?

Because obviously they don't think they have to. And now the State is going to back up that notion...

That is what we need during tough budget times. He don't deserve any money. If he signed a contract then I would say pay the man. But since he was too stupid to sign a contract he shouldn't be paid.

UK needs to come out with the reasons behind why they fired him. If you read the Memorandum of Understanding, it says that BCG can be fired without pay if he is fired with cause. It wouldn't be difficult for Kentucky to justify his firing.

I think it's as simple as that.

This isn't a UK / UL thing. It's bigger than that.

Huh?

Why don't all of the UK fans who are grateful to have him gone just take up a collection? I guarantee we could raise the money very quickly just to be rid of him.

"The law firm of Fisher & Phillips will be paid through an insurance policy, according to information the university provided to the Government Contract Review Committee."

The legislature had to approve the contract with the Texas firm, not any payment. The firm is paid by an insurance company, not UK or Kentucky taxpayers. Hopefully, the CJ/AP will send a reporter next time who actually has half a brain to write an accurate article.

That's EXACTLY what the State of Kentucky's tax money should be spent on...

If UK has enough money to pay the likes of John Calipari, they have enough money to pay off Gillispie... What a joke.
