Wow, I didn't know the first two rounds were in the "snake" format. I thought I would have #2 and then #7 but I'll gladly take 2/3.

I was thinking this morning as I was putting this together that that should be changed.

I don't know if it would need to be changed. I may be drafting 13th but that doesn't necessarily mean I have the best overall player, I could just have solid players all the way through the lineup.

I was actually going to drop Steve Smith and take the extra pick if the first two rounds weren't the snake format. With the third pick overall, at worst, I would have got him back and I possibly could have upgraded that spot...at least, that was my thinking.

 

But, with the snake format, I couldn't figure out exactly where I'd be picking until everyone trimmed their roster down. As it turns out I'd have been 7th overall...to be honest, with the players available, I still think I'd have come out as good or better, but I didn't want to take the risk without knowing for sure.

 

I'll live with a top notch RB and WR and the second pick in the third round. I should come out of that with three solid guys...

 

It's going to require some real thought when it comes back around in the 4th round though...

 

As for changing the format, what would you do? It doesn't necessarily seem fair for whoever has the first pick, IMO, to be able to keep nobody and assure themselves of the top two available players.

I'm pretty excited to get this thing going...hopefully, we can get a good start on the draft prior to July 10.

I'll have to think about it and discuss it with the committee, but the first three rounds would be an NFL style format and then start the "snake" with the begining of the fourth.

I'm pretty excited to get this thing going...hopefully, we can get a good start on the draft prior to July 10.

I won't have internet access this weekend so I know we won't get stated with the American draft early. I should be back around mid-day on Sunday so I'll make a pick then if we have started unofficially.
