This should be a great tournament with teams like:

South Laurel

Shelby Valley

Scott Co.

Tates Creek

West Jessamine

Hazard

Lafayette

Clay Co.

I don't understand why LexCath, Clark Co, Mason Co. and some teas like that don't participate. If some more of those teams would play that aren't far away the field would really be loaded.

MAN! I wish I was back in the US to watch this! I am seeing some very good basketball but the state HS AAU would be nice to watch as well.

Since I do not have much contact back home, any word on Polson from West Jess? I know he was sick or something last week during the Jr All Star games Vs the Sr, sure hope he is back! He is a very good player, and a VERY GOOD player to coach! He was with us duriing the state AAU last month and I can not tell you how much of a team player he is!!!!!! IMO opinion, he has is one of the top (NOT THE TOP, NO ONE IS YET) players for Mr KY!

Reports are that he is getting back to normal. He got cleared today to resume playing. But, he won't be 100% for awhile.

Thanks! Any idea of of what it was/is? PM me if you want on this, Thanks!

Polson was playing with West Jessamine at the Centre team camp today. They say he is probably around 70%, if that. He looked fine on the court to me. He's lost a little weight and what not, but he'll be fine. They say he may have drank some bad stream water is what I heard.

There does appear to be some good games out there. Somerset starts off with a nice challenge or should i say test againt one of Lex's best. I hear that Barksdale is out for a few more weeks. TC will still test SHS mental toughness. SHS a pretty young team and TC has a vetern squad and a very sound PG in Ryan Fucci (Sp). Be interesting to see how the Townsend kid meets this challenge. I look for him to step up to the plate, this is a big test in his young development.

Has anyone seen the brackets? Who are some of the top teams that will be playing this week?

I merged your thread with the one already started. The brackets are in the link in the first post.

Clay Co. will be one of the top 5 or 6 teams in the AAU. They have a very talented team with a boat load of guards.

Anyone heard of burnout? Can kids do a little swimming, traveling, fishing, sleep in every now and then. So what if you are the best in AAU or summer ball, is 5 days a week practice from October through February not enough?

Not really. Most of the good programs are basically year around now. It creates opportunities for kids to really develop and get better. Even when I was in high school we had the season and then played pickup games in the spring and then had summer ball up until the last week of June when dead period started. Then we played a few pickup games in July and come August it was time to start conditioning and playing pickup ball up until October 15. I myself loved it, a lot of kids don't and a lot do enjoy the process.

I wish I had the opportunities that the kids have now. When the season ended , IT ended until the next year. During the summer, if you were a basketball junkie, you went to the local swimming pool that had 2 basketball courts beside it and played. Usually on Saturday and Sunday there would be 4-5 teams of guys and we would play all day winner stays on the court. Plus between games the scenery at the pool wasn't bad.
