May 31, 200917 yr Author I just wonder if he doesn't suffer from some sort of anxiety disorder that prompts the dizziness and imbalance. It's beginning to parralel the careers of Nick Easaky (Vertigo) and Jim Eisenreich (Tourettes) Thinking the same thing, this has all been way to hush, hush from the very beginning. Thinking more psychological at this point.
May 31, 200917 yr Anxiety was part of my guess but its not fair to speculate anything. I do not buy the medicine/ear infection thing though.
May 31, 200917 yr Maybe they should send him to a therapist and see what is wrong. Stress and anxiety can lead to depression and we certainly do not want that.

June 1, 200917 yr Whatever it is, I wish him the best. Hoping for a speedy recovery. The Reds need him in the lineup. He's a great talent!
June 1, 200917 yr What's there to buy? They've already said its a combo of physical and personal. Go back and look at my post in week 8 Reds if your that interested but the recent news had nothing to do with medicine and its not that big of a surprise.
June 1, 200917 yr He needs to talk to Zach Greinke, of the Royals, or his doctor. Great article on Greinke in SI a few weeks back. The article discussed how Greinke possessed the "stuff' to be very good, but was holding back. He finally just had to get away from it all. It was found out he had an anxiety disorder. He was placed on medication for it and from that point forward he began his climb back.

Amen on that, lets see what the Reds and their staff say and not speculate on what we really do not know or understand about Joey Votto's situation! Edited June 1, 200917 yr by spindoc
June 1, 200917 yr What's wrong with speculating about what may or may not be wrong with him? It's a message board. Speculation is one of the main ingredients of making a message board work. No one is saying that's what it is for sure. Nobody is tearing the guy down and saying it's drug or alcohol related. Just speculating on what obviously appears to be more than a simple ear infection as the club has said.
June 1, 200917 yr Amen on that, lets see what the Reds and their staff say and not speculate on what we really do not know or understand about Joey Votto's situation! That's the problem, the Reds aren't telling anything. This has been going on for a month now and no one can explain it.
June 1, 200917 yr Then maybe we as fans should be fans and not try to be doctors and Reds management. Trust me Scribe, we all know what message boards are for or we would not be on them. However, in my opinion, these message boards get used in the wrong way. We are talking about a man's life and his personal illness here. This is not a question of whether he is good enough to be in the #3 spot in the Reds lineup on a given night or whether he is deserving of an all-star roster spot.

But if it is infact a mental health situation (Which I really hope its not) I don't know I just wouldn't comment on it really unless it was support. But thats just me.
