Arlo is going to be having nightmares about the 3rd strike call he didn't get on the pitch before the 2-run double.

 

Not sure why he chose to pitch to Colisimo with first base open. From a pure 2nd guessing standpoint and fully realizing I'm not sitting in the dugout I would have walked him to load up the bases. He had hit the ball too well up to that point.

 

Conner got a break on the play at the plate where BW was thrown out. Great block of the plate by Pugh. Unfortunately he didn't have the ball yet so the run should have counted. Surprised Myerhoff didn't argue that one.

Definitely noticed Myerhoff argues more than the average coach.

Smith pitched through 4 or 5, then sophomore Zac Larrimore finished the game.

Clutch hitting by the Tigers. With two outs Josh Bertke hits a double, Hyde goes down 0-2 then draws a walk. Snyder hits a bloop shot over the SS to score one and Colosimo drives in 2 on a single to tie the game. Then in the 7th Bertke leads off with a single, Hyde walks and Snyder sac bunts. Joe Colosimo comes up clutch again with 1 out and delivers a double to take the lead.

IMO, Coach Arlinghaus could have taken either of the two pitchers out a batter earlier.

Smith looked like a mess...he has to learn to control his emotions. Control just seems to be an overall issue for him which I'm sure his college coaches will get taken care of. Beechwood definitely fought hard for this and they earned it. Hard to see Conner go down as they played well too! Very fun game. Number 18 for Beechwood is a very spirited kid and is very positive..needs to rub off on his teammates. I think two different players today lost their heads..one throwing their helmet and the other a bat. This was really a great game to watch!

#18 deserves tourney MVP considerations for his play in this tourney. Pitched 6 innings vs HHS and was huge tonight at the plate and his leadership. He is only a sophmore. Beechwood is not playing tonight without him. :thumb:

I bet that Coach Myerhoff is one of those guys that if you play for him or if your child plays for him you like him and if not, you don't. Sometimes we as fans are just like that - am I am as well.

 

With that said I must compliment him and his boys. No way they are better than Conner. No way they should have won that game. Conner has better overall talent.

 

However, BW won and Coach Bob deserves big time credit. Well done, sir.

Yes ,Pugh dropped the ball but then picked it up and tagged the runner out. The runner never touched the plate, Pugh's left leg(calf) was blocking the plate perfectly. When the runner slid into him his leg never moved, thus keeping him from touching the plate.

Pugh did indeed block the plate very well, but that is the point, he did so prior to having the ball in his possession (before he even dropped the ball the first time) and from my understanding that's a no, no this year!

I think if Conner would have won this game, they had a great chance of beating CCH with Samad on the bump.

Number 18 is sophomore, Josh Bertke, and he ended up on the all-tournament team, deservedly. Pitched, played 2nd, and 3rd, in the tournament.
