I saw him play for about two quarters, and it's clear he's a great player. He scored ten points, had a nice alley oop dunk, hit a few outside shots. He's got a very nice stroke. He didn't really post up a whole lot, which was really the aspect I wanted to see most. He shot the three, which I really never like from a player like him at this level. That's not really the shot he should be taking, especially if he can/should be getting easier shots closer. He didn't hit any of the threes he attempted. I thought he was a little lazy on defense, but this is summer stuff, which players don't take nearly as seriously as either regular season games or AAU stuff. I was impressed with his ball handling ability, and they had him bring it up the court probably 80% of the time. You can see he's going to be dominant when he wants to be, because most teams won't have a player that can guard him effectively. And physically, he is incredibly imposing, though not as imposing as I expected. I remember that he's supposed to be a sophomore, so I'm sure he's going to get bigger, but physically I didn't see a lot of difference between him and Fant at this point. But his game is far more complete. George will have an incredibly hard time if he's asked to guard him on the perimeter, and George doesn't have the outside shot, which means he's going to have to figure out how to get over his aversion to contact.

Chane is in his correct grade. He will and should be a junior next year. He was held back and had played a year younger for a few years. He decided that it was in his best interest to play at his actual grade level and worked to get himself back where he needed to be. There was a discussion on another site a while back when he decided to make the move to the class of 2011. I applaud his decision.

Chane is hands down the best player in the c/o 2011. As far as statewide, it really depends on if you're looking at position alone, or overall. Overall I don't think Chane is the best all around player in the state, but at his position (Forward) he is probably the best...the only other player, IMO, that would give him some fits is Elijah Pittman of Holmes. That would be a fun match up to see.

IMO:

 

Chane's biggest assett is his strength. That's what separates him from Pittman and Fant. He is a bruiser around the rim, which is why he is so tough to defend.

 

Pittman however is more athletic and has a better outside game than both. Chane is very athletic, but I think he too would have trouble staying with Pittman out on the wing. It really depends which player shows up though...Pittman seems as if he doesn't play hard all the time. If he plays like he did in the state tournament though the final three games, I really think the match up between him and Chane would be much closer than we think.

 

I don't really see any areas where Fant is better than either Behanan or Pittman. He is still a very good player though and a major prospect.

He will play at UC and should be the best player in the state if he plays hard every possession (he took a few plays off). He will struggle with a lack of talent around him and will see alot of double teams this season. BG is athletic but doesn't have alot of skilled basketball players returning.

 

He and coach Sherrill were still trying to figure out where he best fits in and how to use his talents. It will be interesting this season but I don't think BG has enough to beat Central.
