Summer team camps

Featured Replies

They played most if not all of their games at the Beck Center. Games were played in the Beck Center on their 4 courts, the campus center, Broadway Christian, and Lexington Sayre, nice camp.

Teams PC played included: Breckenridge County, Cincy Elder, Carroll County, Spencer County, Taylor County, Rose Hill, maybe NCC--not sure on that one--among others. I did not see all the games, I know they played around 10 or so games in 3 days.

PC lost in the semi's this morning to Cincy Elder!

PC also beat Elder-Black, one of the St. Henry teams, and Lewis County this morning before losing to Elder-White in the semi's!

I left before the finals were over but NCC and Elder (some color) were getting ready to play. NCC beat North Hardin in one semi-final and Elder beat Pendleton Co. Well run camp, several good teams. NCC has 2 really solid guards and a big kid inside that played very well.

NHHS how did some of the NKY area teams do down there? I see you mentioned NCC looked good along with PC what about some of the others?

Pendleton didnt play Taylor County, Rose Hill or NCC. Pendleton started the camp 0-3, then got two players back from a spring sports banquet in Falmouth. They played Walton-Verona, Carroll County, Spencer County, Elder-Black, Breckenridge County, Hancock County and for the life of me i can't remember the seventh team they played before the tournament.

In the team tourney they beat Lewis County, Elder-Black and St. Henry before losing a close game to Elder-White in the Semi's. Very successful camp for Coach Simms' boys.

Those teams were there at the camp and those were some of the teams the PC jv played: Rose Hill, Taylor County, and NCC. I actually said I wasn't sure about NCC.

I did not see PC varsity play that many games, just saw some of the schedule and heard some people taking about them. I did watch their jv and freshman team play quite a bit.

It was a good camp for the whole PC program!

We played St Henry and Coach Faust does a great job. They had a kid that could really shoot the ball. I only got to see a little bit of Pendleton Co but they got to the Final 4 so they must have played pretty well. Walton Verona had a nice team up there as well. I didn't see any team that I would call "great" but there were several real solid clubs up there. Out of the 5th region, Central Hardin and Taylor Co both had nice camps.

NCC won big over Elder in the Final... I don't know if its very fair to call them a sleeper next year but I know the 9th is getting deeper...

Does anyone know who the shooter from St. Henry is?

Not heard who the player was but heard St. Henry played good down there also.

How are teams from NKY performing at these camps/highschool offerings?

and so on/so forth.

Walton Verona had a good showing at the Transy camp. Their varsity went 7-2 and their JV went 10-1 and won the tournament. Coach Trame appears to have the Bearcats playing well and buying into his style of play. His expectations are high and the players seem to be responding.

I watched SK play a little bit and thought they looked pretty good. I believe they were playing Anderson. Maybe the team they were playing wasn't that good but SK really hustled and responded well to their coaching. Also they had a couple of series with some REALLY good ball movement. Times where they reversed the ball and showed good vision and decision making on when to take their man off the dribble. I'll admit my bias but not knowing any of the players, I was somewhat impressed. When I got done lifting and left the gym they were up by about 15.

This is fantastic to hear! I hope to see a good year out of Walton Verona. How did Vance Sullivan look?

How did Walton do against the other NKY teams like NCC and St. Henry down at Transy?
