May 15, 200917 yr I don't mind this at all(THe Video's CCC posted) except they are advertised as Christian Metal... If they were advertised just as Metal...I don't think they would have the same christan fan base listening to them... I can't speak for Jim but I thinks he feels the same as me...That they used Jesus to sell more records... Also I don't think Jim cares for this style of music even if it were not labeled as Christian...I could be wrong...:idunno: I don't think a band should use a religious gimmack to become bigger...Just like stryper did in the 80s... I could be wrong...But that is my turnoff...:idunno:

They are just a brutal metal band with christian messages. They don't use it to sell more CD's, IMO, I know alot of bands do though. The bands that I feel do things like that don't really go as deep with the lyrics as As I Lay Dying does. They are just a great band that is heavily influenced by their religion.

I don't know of a single band that sat down and said, "Hey, we suck as a secular band, so let's call ourselves "Christian" to sell some records." Yeah, that's the South Park-ish plot, but not real-life. I know of bands (know the members of the bands personally) that truly believe they are ministering to others by performing Christian music. They do not care if they ever make another dime, they feel they are doing God's work. Is it so surprising that there are Christians who want to make music for other Christians? And are you telling me that if a Christian band took away their label as "Christian rock" and just called themselves a "rock band" but kept the same religious-themed lyrics, you would be okay with that? :confused:
May 15, 200917 yr In all seriousness....say this isn't talent. I agree that musically, they are solid. Nice riffs, good musicianship. But I am not much for the growling vocals. Not my cup of tea. By musically they are solid. I like the lyrics I looked up on them as well.

I could be wrong...But that is my turnoff...:idunno: I never bought a Stryper album as I was not impressed with them as a band. I liked what they stood for, but didn't care much for their music. I also think that having the mentality that all Christian bands like this are a South Park'ish plot is a bad stereotype. I have a nephew who loves the really heavy stuff and really likes AsILayDying. He told me he didn't know they were even a Christian band until after he had heard them.

Maybe the band has a deep set of religous beliefs that greatly impact not only their lives, but their musical inclinations.
