By the way, I agree that the rules seem ridiculous. And I also agree that the young man knew what he was getting into when he agreed to abide by them.

I'm assuming that said divorce involves heterosexual couples...

Yes?

 Using Hunter Thompson to defend fundamentalist Baptists.....probably a first.

I see it as ironic that hand-holding and rock music are forbidden, but there is no problem that his parents are divorced. I just don't get it.....

Hunter's ashes are probably recombining right now to come back and haunt me.

I agree with the school. He does not have to attend either the school or the prom. Both are choices with consequences. When you agree to join a "club" you agree to abide by its rules. No reason he can't work to have the rules changed, but if they are not by prom - make the choice.

This is so sad....I would tell the powers to be to explain the story of the prodigal son where Jesus tells the story where when the son was welcomed back everyone had music and they danced.

Ecclesiastes 3:4 A time to dance

2 Samual 6:14 David dances before the LORD

Psalm 30:11 Mourning turns into joyful dancing.

Psalm 149:3 150:4 Praise God with dancing

You guys may find this strange coming from me — while the rules are heavy-handed, the parents and student agreed to them. If they thought they would have a problem with the rules, they shouldn't have sent the kid there. As Hunter S. Thompson said, "Buy the ticket, take the ride."

I agree.

I agree, too. That is strange coming from you. :p:D

While I agree with you and you are on point...Kevin Bacon even quoted a few of these, they still new the rules ahead of time. Like moving into a house next to railroad tracks and then complaining about the noise.

I would guess that it has more to do with the music and types of dancing rather than dancing itself.

IMO
