It makes the School he goes to look like a Christian Taliban is running it .
Jim Schue Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 You guys may find this strange coming from me — while the rules are heavy-handed, the parents and student agreed to them. If they thought they would have a problem with the rules, they shouldn't have sent the kid there. As Hunter S. Thompson said, "Buy the ticket, take the ride."

I see it as ironic that hand-holding and rock music are forbidden, but there is no problem that his parents are divorced. I just don't get it.....
True blue (and gold) Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 You guys may find this strange coming from me — while the rules are heavy-handed, the parents and student agreed to them. If they thought they would have a problem with the rules, they shouldn't have sent the kid there. As Hunter S. Thompson said, "Buy the ticket, take the ride." I would have to agree. I get irked when people agree to rules ahead of time and then expect not to be punished when they decide to break them. If you don't agree with the policy, don't go to the school.

Well...it's not the kids fault that his parents are divorced. Why should this preclude him from attending the school?
All Tell Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 I'm in complete agreement with Jim and TB&G :scared::eek::scared: You can't agree to abide by rules and then expect to break them with no consequence when they are not convenient to you.
True blue (and gold) Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 I'm in complete agreement with Jim and TB&G :scared::eek::scared: :ylsuper::dancingpa WoooHooo! Someone record the time and date of this agreement!
GatorFan Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 Some schools have to much power, but he did sign the agreement and it is what it is.
cch5432 Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 Well...it's not the kids fault that his parents are divorced. Why should this preclude him from attending the school? I'm just saying that things as mild as rock n roll are frowned upon, but divorce is no big deal.
True blue (and gold) Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 I'm just saying that things as mild as rock n roll are frowned upon, but divorce is no big deal. I understand where you are coming from, but what do you propose? That they not allow students from divorced families? I don't quite understand what you want them to do to show that they don't support divorce.
mcpapa Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 By the way, I agree that the rules seem ridiculous. And I also agree that the young man knew what he was getting into when he agreed to abide by them.

I'm not implying anything, just saying that it is sad that divorce has become such a natural, accepted part of our society. Even in a group that bans rock n roll & hand-holding for their moral ramifications you have divorce present.
