How many homers does Maile and Darner have.

I assume that both teams threw 4, 5 or 6th best pitchers. Shows that CC is the much better hitting team. I can't imagine their #6 pitcher being a world beater and Ryle has struggled to hit the ball. 7 runs is an onslaught for the Raiders. Congrats to CovCath on another win. CC is definitely the team to beat in the 9th this year.

Theoldguy had some concerns about this game! CovCath was coming off wining two out of three games in the LIT against some of the best teams in the Commonwealth and this was the third time this season that CovCath was playing Ryle. CovCath also has a huge district seeding game against Cov Holy Cross on Tuesday so I was concerned that CovCath would be looking past Ryle, and as good as Ryle is, that would have meant a loss.

 

I am glad to say, I was as wrong as wrong can be.

 

The seniors I am convinced understand just how important ever game is, and are pushing the younger players on, by example

 

In the top of the first Ryle went single, 8, K and 8 but when CovCath came to bat the doubts that anyone might have about these young men giving it there all today vanished.

 

CovCath sent nine men to the plate not only in the first but also in the second and led by a score of 11-0 after two complete. It was hit after hit after hit with Darner hitting a HR (#5 380) with two men on, then Isler hits his HR almost in the same spot for his (#2 380) on the next pitch.

 

In the CovCath fifth CovCath scores another four runs on a HR (#1 375) by Nutini with one on and Maile hits his HR (#3 360) with 1 on to make the score 15-7 after five complete

 

In the CovCath sixth with two outs Krumme walks, Eggemeire hits a double then a WP scores their 16th run and T. Reese singles and with a 2-0 count, Darner then drives a ball that would have been a double to score the 17th and final run to close out the game after six.

 

For Ryle, Hempel hit a HR that went out about the 375 mark

 

The good: Can't tell you the last time CovCath has beaten Ryle in a run rule game, but I was impressed that CovCath played so well today. The CovCath "D" had only one error today and that was in part (at least IMO) caused by playing the last couple of games on turf where the ball seems to come up all the time to the infielder.

The hitting 10 singles, 6 doubles 1 triple and 4 HR and I can't tell you the last time a CovCath team had 4 HR's by four different batters in the same game.

 

The bad: The ugly: Nothing at all in run ruling a local baseball rival.

Yep, just a good old fashion beating. There were no answers for Cov Cath's hitting today no matter who you threw, just one of those days. Ryle closed to 11-7 and Cov Cath answered right back to close the show. With the big wind blowing out tonight that field was a launching pad, even the dink and dunk hitters were bouncing them off the wall. Don't get me wrong there was some well hit balls but there was a big wind aid there today. Both Maile's and Hempel's don't leave the park on a calm day, but Isler's was more than legit.

And I will agree with you. Matt is getting stronger and stronger and if by the District and or Region games he is at least 90% then CovCath gets even stronger on the mound. Matt now just need to work on getting stronger, but me, I still find it hard to believe that he is even playing, much less playing so well..
