Which brings up the future... are they too old to get it done anymore?

 

They just need to get healthy and stay that way all season. Manu out and Duncan less than 100% makes them an average team. If their big 3 is at 100%, they're still a formidable opponent.

 

They just need to get better around those guys, because at this point, even if all three are healthy, teams like LA and Cleveland are still better, IMO.

 

The question is whether they can improve the supporting cast before Duncan and company get too old.

Cleveland, Dallas and LA have all advanced and Denver will likely finish their series in the next game.

 

Boston has been pushed hard by Chicago, but I can't see them losing the series at this point. I also think Houston will get by Portland.

 

Orlando has a 3-2 lead on Philly, but if Howard is suspended for a game, this series is almost certainly headed for a seventh game.

 

And, Miami and Atlanta looks like it could be a seven gamer as well.

 

Looking ahead, what do you think?

 

The only series I can see going either way is the bottom of the east bracket. If the favorites win, it's Orlando vs. Boston and that should be a very competitive matchup. But, even if they don't get there, any combination of matchups with those four teams seems like the best bet for a seven game series in Round 2.

 

The Lakers should win relatively easy. I'll be mildly surprised if Cleveland doesn't sweep, and shocked if they lose more than one. Dallas pushing Denver would be the least surprising, but I'd expect the Nuggets to win in no more than six games.

 

Bottom Line: After the first round, I wouldn't expect a lot of drama until the finals.

Relax, I was just kidding. I'm not going to post the pictures. It's unfortunate that the Spurs were eliminated, but thankfully I have other things to keep my mind off of it. I'm not all that disapointed. I knew they could only keep playing at a high level for so long. They're still a good team, but they need to add some more weapons.

 

The Spurs need to try to get another really good free agent, young big man that way Duncan can play more of the role David Robinson played as far as not having to be the main guy, but still being very effective.

 

If the series was fixed, they'd have most certainly called Rondo for a flagrant foul when he tried to KO Brad Miller at the end of OT.

 

The Bulls are better, but they don't know how to win yet...the Celtics experience will pull them through this series, and possibly the next.

 

That was one of the worst officiated games I have ever seen. I wanted the Bulls to win that game and the series and I honestly think they were handed the game on a platter. Ray Allen has fouled out in now 2 of his career playoff games. Fouls 3-5 were at best questionable. The 6th was laughable. Rondo went for the ball hard and missed. It could have been called flagrant, but I had no problem w/ it not being called flagrant w/ 2 seconds left. One or two of the refs that were assigned to game 4 reportedly were from the Chicago area and they had family members wearing Bulls gear to game 4. The NBA needs to find a way to get this taken care of. Officiating is going to be the downfall of the league.

An NBA source pointed out before the game that two of the referees were Chicago natives (Marc Davis and Dan Crawford). Kennedy also was involved in an incident with Rivers during the Bulls' St. Patrick's Day win in which both were fined by the league for jawing. The source also said that after the game family members of both referees departed wearing Bulls gear.

In all honesty he should have been ejected in game 5 and had to sit out game 6. That was clear as day intentional. The refs should have had the stones to toss him.

Now this is playoff basketball. A wrestling match has been going on since the start of the second quarter in Atlanta.
