Stout defeated Wiman via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).

 

Light Heavyweight bout: Chuck Liddell vs. Mauricio Rua

Rua defeated Liddell via TKO (strikes) in round 1.

 

Light Heavyweight bout: Krzysztof Soszynski vs. Brian Stann

Soszynski defeated Stann via submission (kimura) at 3:53 of round 1.

 

Heavyweight bout: Cheick Kongo vs. Antoni Hardonk

Kongo defeated Hardonk via TKO (strikes) at 2:29 of round 2.

 

Light Heavyweight bout: Steve Cantwell vs. Luiz Arthur Cane

Cane defeated Cantwell via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27).

Not that great a night of fights, IMO.

 

Silva won an uneventful title fight. Leitas ran scared all night and Silva didn't really look that interested in chasing him. Disappointing fight.

 

Rua sent Liddell out of the big time. Chuck looks finished to me.

 

Kongo was impressive. I'm not a fan of his, but he looked good. His ground and pound is one of the best in the division.

 

Cane vs. Cantwell was the best fight of the night, IMO. Both guys showed a lot of moxy and I think they can both be contenders at 205. Cantwell is only 23, I believe, so he can bounce back from this defeat.

Pretty much sums it up for me as well.

Kongo has looked very impressive for a couple of straight fights now. He has improved leaps and bounds since joining the UFC.

Liddell can't take a punch anymore. Reminds me of Glass Joe from Mike Tyson's Punch-Out...big right hand, no chin.

If the UFC isn't going to give Anderson Silva some competition, they should at least line up guys who are willing to fight him. Nobody wants to watch him fight guys who lay down when he gets close.

I didnt care much for the fight as soon as it was announced. I think its about time he gives up the belt at 185 and moves up to 205. Those are the only guys who could test him and there would be quite a few big money fights for him and the UFC if he did move up.

Didn't get to see the pay per view but sounds like it was pretty lack luster. After reading Dana's post fight recap and other articles about the event, I think I am going to jump on the bandwagon of Dana White Haters. Honestly what does this guy expect? Dana and Joe Silva are throwing meatballs at Anderson and they expect him to make these fights spectacular??? Granted, the last two fights he probably should have won via KO and I honestly think he would have if Cote could have continued but really...until Anderson Silva is given some formidable opponents then his fights are going to suffer. If I was Anderson and the so called boss was mad about the fight then maybe I would just walk away...maybe the UFC isn't tops in MMA and maybe my talents are just to much??? Or is Dana protecting his other champions from the possible beatdown they would take if Anderson was able to move up in weight-class???

Yeah it got pretty ridiculous. I guess I could understand he was doing what he thought he could do in trying to survive a five round title bout against the spider, by my lord man stand in there a little bit. I thought it was hilarious when after a while Anderson started trying to punch his toes while Leites was in his guard. There were probably more leg kicks to Leites thighs while was on the ground then there was shots landed by Leites on Silva, and for those who didnt watch Anderson only kicked him once or twice each time he went into his half guard, then Silva would let him up.

Would create a lot of match-ups I would love to see. A Rampage matchup really comes to mind, no being scared there. More than likely wouldn't happen but a champion vs. champion with Griffin would also be nice. Its just hard to see Silva wanting to put on the extra pounds and move up though, its not his fault nobody is even close to him in the middleweight division. And for those thinking GSP will give him a fight, I really just dont think so. Furthermore, I expect Rampage to get another shot at Griffin here pretty soon.

I think GSP is closer to beating Spider than most on here are willing to concede. After watching that fight last night, I am sure GSP can do better than that. If Spider doesn't give more of an effort, than it would be a short night...with GSP prevailing.

Anytime someone beats Drew McFederies to get a title shot, they have no buisness in being in the fight IMO. It's obvious 185 has a vacuum of talent.

I caught bits and pieces of the Liddell/Shogun fight online, but didn't see much else. Guess I didn't miss much.
