April 16, 200917 yr NKU is an established program in DII. They both may benefit greatly if Harrelson goes there.

April 16, 200917 yr I think that Stevenson will work out well in Calipari's system....not so much for the others.

April 16, 200917 yr He can put the ball on the floor and drive?:idunno: No...but he can certainly stuff a dish.
April 16, 200917 yr If you think he could really contribute this year, then why in the world wouldn't an extra year of practicing it not benefit him? If UK has Cousins, Patterson, Orton and Pilgrim on the roster, where is his playing time going to come from? I think that he can contribute this year when Orton & Cousins are adjusting to the college game. They're top prospects, but there is still an adjustment period. If he waits another year, both of the newcomers will pass him on the depth chart, if they're still around.
April 16, 200917 yr He can put the ball on the floor and drive?:idunno: There is only 1 ball, so only 1 person will "dribble & drive" at a time. In an offense that is built upon penetration, there will be a lot of weak side help on defense. Presumably, it will be Stevenson's man who playing help defense, contesting the ball at the rim. That leaves Stevenson down on the block, waiting for a pass to fumble then dunk, or to send a missed shot back home when he's not boxed out. Calipari's system, while centered around the dribble-drive and good point guards, still employs a team concept.

Pat could fit in any offense.
April 16, 200917 yr Isn't NKU going D1 in the next 5 years? No. There is a moratorium through 2011. I hope they can work it out somewhere in the near future and I believe that's why they said their new yet-to-be-hired AD needs to have D1 experience.
April 16, 200917 yr He'd fit in nicely for Dave Bezold and the Norse. All good D2 teams benefit from these type of transfers. Been rumblings of that for a few weeks now.
April 16, 200917 yr I think it's funny that people think Perry couldn't thrive in Cal's system...I say it's perfect for him.
April 16, 200917 yr Patterson would be fine in the DDM. The DDM is not simply spread the floor and take your man, it is a little more complicated than that. What it does do is place an emphasis on transition, getting the ball to the middle of the floor, reading defense, driving through the elbow "slots" scoring, drawing and dishing etc. In the halfcourt, there are a myriad of sets you can run it through. Last year Memphis did a lot of different entries into the DDM...moreso than two years ago...you can run a set for a player to score in early offense...54 in the block. Patterson's stock can go through the roof by consistently showing the midranger jumper...he showed it at times. He has to show it to compete at next level because he is not good enough to score over athletic people in the post. He would be perfect as a trailer in this offense. I think Stevenson might be in trouble. You have to score with contact and absorb contact in this offense...he can do neither. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.
