Track the Reds (Week 2)

I think there's a very good possibility we could see Owings as the DH in AL parks. Do you risk playing your #5 pitcher in the field though?
He did it in college with little harm done ...

Will he help you more pitching every fifth or sixth day or by DH'ing in two to three games in a series? Or maybe a better question, what can the Reds replace quicker? A RH bat with power or a #5 pitcher?

That's a good question, but I know Owings doesn't want to give up being a starter. How many days do you think you could start him in LF, and still expect him to take the ball every 5 days?

I wouldnt start him in the field. But would at DH. However, the recent Chris Carpenter injury may cause Dusty to rethink that.

I would propose to do it this way.

Owings would typically have four days between starts. I wouldn't start him in the field on the day after or before he pitches. Anything else (that leaves days 2 and 3) could be fair game. He could do his bullpen session/side work before a game if he is needed to play in the field.

Did I hear correctly that the Reds are the worst-hitting team in MLB right now?

They have to be. Who is hitting for this team besides Votto?

They broke out with a robust 7 hits today to raise their average to .210. Pretty amazing they are over .500.
