April 11, 200917 yr It seems that Joe Biden was recalling a time that he says he was meeting with Bush at the WH and Bush said he was a leader and Biden told Bush to look behind him that no one was following. Rove says he went through his notes on all of Bush's meetings and one with Biden as he describes it did not happen. Said that Biden is a serial exaggerator and if he wanted to be mean spirited, he would call him a liar. Says it is beneath the office of the VP to do such things. Says this was supposed to be the administration that was going to change the way tone of DC but Biden keeps doing these same things. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0409/21103.html Thoughts? I would give mine but another poster has expressed that I cannot offer an opinion if I am starting the thread. So, I will just sit in my corner, be quiet and read your all thoughts. I will only express mine if someone else starts a thread.:sssh:
April 11, 200917 yr Biden has been proven a liar many times over the years.. Agreed... He has opened his mouth a few times and then had a foot stuck right back in it. :idunno:
April 11, 200917 yr Carl Rove is one who I won't give the time of day. After he stated that the Congressional Black Caucus should know better than to meet with The Castro's. The reason being he was talking about human rights and freedom in Cuba and said that the black congress people should remembered their own history in this country. I heard him say this on the Shaun Hannity show. It really ticked me off.

I guess these guys meeting with Castro, the murdering dictator and defending him, is no different than Joe Kennedy meeting with Hitler, the murdering dictator and saying he was an OK guy. One point would be is that Hitler's murderous days lay ahead of him when Joe met with him. Whereas Castro's murderous days are behind him, yet these individuals still went to pay him homage as they wish they could make America over in to what Cuba is today. A so-called socialist state.

I must be missing something. Why would asking them to remember their history be a bad thing? The Cuban people are oppressed, blacks were oppressed. I can certainly see where he would say that.

They stepped out of the subservient role that they should be in. In other words they should act like they are fieldhands and not the owner of the big house on the hill. I can assure him that we know our history quite well.

April 11, 200917 yr See, I see it as saying "your history has much in common with the people of Cuba, remember that when you praise the regime ruling them." No that is not what I was saying at all. But since you brought it up about meetings. This country had the law of seperate but equal for blacks. It was called Jim Crow. Many states in the south took stands against intergration and even had groups like the KKK and the White Citizens Council who suppressed black people. Some were even murdered. They didn't want blacks to get a good education or vote. This was the law of this country. So was it wrong that black civil rights leader met with the President of the United States back then?

Yes, if they met and praised a president who instituted the Jim Crow laws and ruled like Castro has ruled. That would be very wrong.
April 11, 200917 yr Yes, if they met and praised a president who instituted the Jim Crow laws and ruled like Castro has ruled. That would be very wrong. Jim Crow was the law of this country. It was upheld by the United States Supreme Court. So if a man was President of the United States and he did nothing to get ready of the law he did just about as much as Castro did.

I disagree but I have to ask, was there even a black caucus when the Jim Crow laws were in place? If there was and they met and praised a president that was doing nothing to change the laws, they would have been wrong. They are wrong now in my opinion.
April 11, 200917 yr I love it. Karl Rove has some serious audacity. This is simply a case of a man who's lost his "power" spewing to discredit some in "power". Karl Rove is no pinnacle of truth.

Some blacks weren't even allowed to vote.
