The President's Plan on Immigration

Featured Replies

It would only take 328 years to deport 12 million people at a rate of 100 deportations a day. I say we just start deporting and see how that goes.

The land-mine thing is despicable and makes me want to puke. We kill someone or injure them for life because they want to come to America to make a better life for themselves? WOW - Now that is what a Christian nation should do. Obama is right, we are not a Christian nation!!

That's not it at all. You kill the ones that don't want to do it legally.

That is Justice??

No, it is hatred.

So you want to reward them for breaking the law?

I've been saying we need to put mines on the boarder for the past 5 years.

I'll go a step further though. Those illegals that make it through the mines and into the country, are granted automatic citizenship.

I was going to answer your question to me but then you went from the sublime to the ridiculous.:isurrender:

Ace cool your jets, at what point did I ever portray my political views as moral, Christian or religious? I look at politics amorally anyway. A few lives, that aren't American, to show we are serious is no great loss.

For what it's worth, harm can be done with no malice involved.

I also am not for killing the illegals already here. You give them a path to citizenship that involves compensating for their illegal activity as they become citizens.

I am just advocating lethal force as a deterrent to illegally coming across the border. If you know the options are:

1) Trying to cross the border illegally and possibly dying or being maimed in the process.

OR

2) Trying to come over legally and knowing your chances are good at being allowed in.

Which would you choose?

I often have stated that I think we need to streamline the process, make it easier and increase the number of people we allow in legally every year (with priorities given to families).

Okay folks, those of you that have a problem with my idea. Why do you have a problem with it?

What is wrong with threating violence to people who are illegally trying to violate our national borders?

Because for the most part the people trying to cross the border are good hard working people trying to make a better life for their families; forgive me if I think killing them for that is more than a harsh suggestion. I am also guessing that you are not of Native American decent; so if this is true someone in your family tree was most likely an immigrant and came here because our freedoms offered a better life. You are going to probably say that they did it legal which would probably be accurate, however I think we can both agree the path to citizenship was much faster and easier for them.

As I said, killing isn't necessarily the end result. Maiming can occur as well. Even so, what other method do you think would be an effective deterrent in keeping people from coming here illegally.

I really would rather the minefield remain untouched and never have anything set off by an illegal attempting to cross it. It would be a waste for someone to die when they were simply trying to improve their own economic situation (and provide the U.S. with a greater pool of human capital). That said, I wouldn't want it placed there without any sort of warning. You warn people(via signs in as many languages as is appropriate) that an illegal crossing of the border will likely be met with lethal force and advise against it. At the bottom you could even give directions to the nearest place to start the process legally.

My family came to the states in the early 20th century from Europe and went through the necessary steps to come here legally.

I'm in agreement with a lot of this post.

As for number one, why stop at illegal immigration? Let's expand this to all illegal activities in this country. Here are some examples:

1) Cops have sniper training to "pick off" speeders. It's the fault of any passenger in that car that might also die for chosing to ride with the speeder.

2) In stores, all items have a tag that, if not removed at the checkout, explodes as you walk out of the store. So what if an 8 year old loses a finger or two? He probably won't steal as an adult.

3) For those that don't pay their taxes, have them six at a time, face a 6 shooter loaded with one bullet. Five of them walk away and get a 2nd chance to pay their taxes. The 6th one won't have to worry about taxes next year.

Those are just a few examples.

It is perfectly legal (and acceptable IMVHO) to use deadly force against someone who is breaking into your home.

We have a right to protect the borders of our country. If we did mine the borders and make that fact known then those killed or maimed would have only themselves to blame.

:thumb: If the "minefield" was announced and known then obviously if you are dumb enough to go through it then that is a "you problem."

Your sarcasm is unwelcome.

American citizens and those who come here legally should be treated differently than those who try to come here by illegally crossing our borders. The situations you describe are hardly congruent with this one.

I have no desire to change our treatment of American citizens, however those who are not American citizens or legally trying to come to America should know that there are consequences.

So you believe we should just drop all border security and say "COME ON IN FOLKS!!" or its equivalent in Spanish? While we're at it, why don't we just give Mexico the Southwest back?

Regardless of what some one here seem to believe everyone in the world does not have a "RIGHT" to come to the United States on their own terms to achieve "the Amreican Dream". Quite frankly I don't care how law abiding, how beneficial to society, how much better their life is here etc. regarding any illegal alien. The broke our laws and ignored the sovreingty of our borders when they chose to come here illegally. They should not even be considered for any path to citizenship until they have paid a penalty for doing that and they get in line behind all of the immigrants that are here legally with regards to achieving citizenship.

I know a couple of legal permanent residents, on the path to citizenship, that have told me, it would have been eaiser to come here illegally, get a job, pay taxes, and work towards citizenship as an illegal alien.

As you told another poster, my job is not to make you comfortable. For the record, I did agree with your 2nd point.

I could not support using deadly force against someone that is not a physical threat. I think that it is barbaric.
