To take up for the Bellevue D, another thread had them turning 2 DPs in the 1st 2 innings and cutting down another runner at the plate on a WP/PB. Just because poor fielding in the 7th directly led to the walkoff, don't discount the work done in earlier innings to keep them in the game so there WAS a bottom of the 7th.

 

Well actually, the "melt down" came in the bottom of the 6th, where I think the Tigers had 3 errors if I recall correctly. However, you are right, they made some good plays early in the game, however, they should have made these plays in the 6th as well. Despite the errors, it was a great game by both teams, can't wait to see them play again!

I like Bellevue! These kids are tough. The schedule Coach Sanders has this season is very competitive. I beleive he is making a statement with this team. I know he'd like to be winning more of these but lets see how they shape up be seasons end!

 

These kids are tough and there's some very good players along with good coaching. I've seen several games and the losses they've had have been tough close games. The parts are all there for Bellevue and I wonder some times if those players really believe what they can achieve. I think they're use to be one of the bottom teams and over the last few years, they've built a solid ball team without truly realizing they've climbed the ladder so to speak. I'd like to see each player play with increased confidence realizing their accomplishments and improvements - even after an error or two. They should all be enjoying the turn around at Bellevue and the opportunity that many of these players may have to actually play college ball one day.

 

Wish I'd caught this game of Bellevue and Highlands! Would have enjoyed seeing both of these teams compete. Again, I hope Bellevue players continue to battle and not be discouraged by some defensive errors and close games. There's a lot of season remaining!!

At the end of the day, one-run losses in April against competition like Boone and Highlands are far more valuable than run-rule wins against weak competition. Eventually you hope to start winning some of these games as you get closer to tourney time, of course, but this is all pretty positive stuff for Bellevue.

Hunter has a lot of schools looking at him... Kentucky, Miami Florida, North Carolina,Georgia, Arizona, long beach in California... And I think there is more but not sure... I think he's going to go to Kentucky also...

Didn't mean to be bad mouthing Bellevue D at all. They have all in all played a good D this year. But when your #3 pitcher goes up and throws the type of game that Young did he should win. D and bats will come around they were supposed to be the strong points of Bellevue this year. But the pitching has looked good to this point. Bellevue will be fine when it counts. I like the schedule they are playing and it will make them a better team.

I dont he has made a decision. I'm sure BB #21 is just making a guess I would assume.

Close game...........Highlands hitting looks really anemic right now. But it is early so hopefully they can break out. You have to expect nothing less from a Rob Sanders team but grit and determination.

I'm sorry fellas but I haven't seen anything from Jones to say top 25 D1. OVC seems a lot more accurate here imo.

I can do that, but could you please tell me what makes him a top 25 D1 player? I know pedigree means a lot but you definitely need more than that to go to a top D1 school. Mr. Jones is a great kid, and I wish him nothing but I just dont agree with your evaluation of his talent.

Jones possesses the ability to hit for average, ability to hit for power as well as excellent speed. I suspect he also has an arm that grades out pretty high, although I've never seen him truly tested in that area. There is absolutely no doubt that Hunter is a top DI player as evidenced by his recruiting process and watching him play repeatedly. I'm sure he'll have the attention of pro scouts as well.... how much time will tell.

 

What parents and even coaches observe in a player doesn't always equate to what pro and college scouts are witnessing. A player may have a terrible game according to someone on the sidelines. The potential that a scout can assess is a skill.... they're paid for it. I have no doubt that they are grading Jones very well.
