Jimmyjr. This might be the first time we agree but yes Bluegrass (compared to several other organizations) is an ok organization and not anywhere near great.

 

My opinion: Hunter Jones will end up with a DI scholarship.

 

"Great" is a relative term. It obviously does not have the history or establishment of a Midland program, but then again, very few do. But it is a solid all-around program run by solid individuals who care about the game and the players on their teams and know the game well. Look at their 18U rosters and you will see some very impressive talent on their teams. I assure you that Walt does not get every stud player in NKY and is not the sole conduit for players to be seen at the college level.

I understood that. And I stick by what I said. I don't think he is a top 25 caliber player. I watch a lot of baseball up here, and he has never stood out to me when I've watched him. He is a better player on his team, and one of the good ones in NKY, but not exceptional. Not by any means. He has a year or so to improve, as he is only a junior which is great. But top 25 caliber players do not make errors on routine balls continuously, and I've seen games where he had multiple. He looks like he could play at a DII school, maybe a small D1 with the right fit, which is just great imo.

Right now, no. I've seen him play multiple times and as I said, while he's good, he doesn't stand out as being heads and shoulders above. He has a year or two to progress though which is in his favor and if he does than it's possible, but as of right now there is no way. I had heard all of this about how great he was and how he is a high draft prospect before I saw him last year, and then I watched a lot and it was a let down because all I saw was a good baseball player playing on a good baseball team. Too many errors to even be considered top 25 team caliber player just yet. As someone said though, lucky for him, me and many others who have seen him are not scouts.

I don't think anyone is saying he's a top 25 PLAYER. I thought they were saying he's getting looks by Top 25 TEAMS.

 

I have personally seen hand written letters from head coaches addressing him personaly. As a junior he is getting this. He will play for a primetime school.

As now do I. I was informed by a legitimately knowledgeable source that there are indeed some top 25 schools interested in him. Will he end there? Have to wait and see, but there is clearly some interest already. Congrats to him! :thumb:

Things like that I tend to believe only when confirmed by someone who I know to be a very credible source (and the one I spoke to is indeed!). Not saying you aren't, just don't know who you are.

The Colonels and Kings got every stud player in NKY. Bluegrass always got second pickens' imo. Now that the Kings are no longer, the talent level of the Bluegrass organization will steadily increase.
