Mitch will be seen in a different way around here for a long time. He needs a good hug and a little pat on the back IMO. It will be nice to sit back and watch all the glory the next decade do to the sucess of the football, basketball, baseball, and rise of women's basketball. He has done a very good job with Kentucky if you ask me.

It certainly helps the cause when you have that much green to throw around.

 

Still, it's a great hire. He deserves credit for that.

 

It's not like he outbid Memphis for Cal's services. He found a guy who wanted the Kentucky job and made a good enough offer, IMO, to decrease the chances that Memphis could throw enough at him to outweigh his desire to coach at a program like UK.

I think Mitch has done a good job as AD. But, with the status of the hoops program and what has gone down with Tubby first and then BCG, he really needed to make a splash with this hire and get it right. He got the first part right. Time will tell on the second. Had he screwed this one up, I suspect his seat would have started to heat up regardless of the work he's done in other sports.

He should have never gotten flack to begin with. The things he has done for our athletic department and other sports go unheralded and overlooked for the almighty basketball. The fact UK has become a relevant football program under his watch makes him worth whatever they are paying him.

Mitch did a fine job. He got the coach I wanted 2 years ago.

Now that the deal is done (hopefully), how about giving Mitch some credit too? He has hit a Grand Slam for the Big Blue Nation. Thanks! Mitch

He did make the decision. He got counsel from a few others, but he did make the call.

I understood that this was Mitch's call all the way with 'input' from Lee Todd. Granted, Lee Todd as his boss could override any potential offer, but he obviously did not do that.
