Dickie V Says...

Featured Replies

Maybe at some lower level schools but when you are UK at the pinnacle of college basketball, the coach you get that is successful will stay forever. Much like Billy D is doing at UF, and numerous others. 10 years can easily turn into 15-20.
Yeah, but that is the exception much more than the rule, and it will continue to be. Besides, Donovan was in his early 30s when he got the Florida job. And just two years ago, he entertained an offer from Kentucky and nearly bolted to the NBA.

It isn't like Donovan has shown he's perfectly content there, given his exploration into other jobs.

I got a chance to meet with Coach Knight and Coach K about a year ago. What I can say is that Coach Knight looks A LOT older in person. No doubt, I have the upmost respect for him but at this stage in his life, I honestly don't think he could make it 6 years as a head basketball coach, his health would be at risk. I don't say NEVER to anything but him getting hired is about as close to a "never" situation as I could think of.

Yeah. I personally think both Meeks AND Patterson will be back. I think they're so happy to get rid of Gillispie that they can't wait.

Hubert Davis says ... Kentucky "is not a coveted job anymore..."
Harsh, perhaps, but there is more truth in that statement than some people would care to admit.

Kentucky is the second most popular job behind UNC. Davis is way off base with that comment.

Why would he say they are gone? Haven't all other reports stated that they are staying?

According to who?

Kentucky is the second most popular job behind UNC.
A very debatable statement ...

Have Kansas and UCLA been turned down lately?

That's my opinion - forgot to add that.

I'm not sure why he said that about Meeks and Patterson.

Hubert Davis says Meeks and Patterson are gone and Kentucky "is not a coveted job anymore..."

Its not.

Bad situation.

You have to be a bubbling joyful ambassador who kisses the but of the old people in the lower arena who fall asleep during games and get to the FF within 2 years of being hired.

Oh and you can never drink or be single, and god forbid you are seen with a hot young coed.
