Any opinions on what teams you expect to noticable improve from last year? Any you suspect of being down?

 

Sounds like Hazard should make a deep run, possibly make it to state. Can Raceland and LCA keep it up?

LCA is going to be up. I expect Hazard to be down from last year. Raceland will seem down in the early season, but will be a little behind LCA. Raceland or Hazard beating LCA this year would be an upset, plain and simple. I'm not saying it can't happen, but it would be an upset.

The Raiders from McCreary Central will be up this year. I think they will make some noise and surprise some people. I am not saying they will go 10-0 or anything but should be a thorn in everyone's side and beat some people that most don't expect them to. I talked to a good friend of mine on the coaching staff and he said they are having a great spring practice. he said the discipline level is at an all time high and they are accomplishing everything they need to accomplish. I asked him what we could expect in 2009 and he said the O-line will be 100% better and the defense will make a 100% improvement. I am going to try and go to one practice next week to see for myself and then I will give everyone a first hand account on how its going. :ylsuper:

What about Louisville Central? There isn't much talk on here about them, yet they have been TOUGH the last couple of seasons. Was it just a good group that came through, or was it are they just becoming one of the best in state consistently?

 

My pick for down this year in 1A, would be Campbellsville. I know that isn't a stretch, but after the high expectations (pre-season top 10 by me and many others on here) that they failed to attain last year, I don't see them turning things around for a couple years.

In other levels, I can't see Estill being quite as effective this year either. They lost quite a bit on both sides.

I'm shooting for a game vs Raceland for the following 2 reasons:

 

1. I know if we play Raceland we will have made a deep run in the playoffs.

I would think the Engineers would take a step back after several good years in a row. They lost a ton of talent.

Go Raiders!!!! McCreary Central will be UP this year. Hardest schedule ever played at McCreary. Will be very successful.

After winning two titles and beating Male, kids are starting to line up to get in there. LC will be around and on top for many years. Just my thought.

All of their skill kids are returning. The question for this team is how do fill the gaps on defense. Tim Patterson and Micheal Lewis are the only returning starters. Both have started since they were Soph.

Expect them to make a good push in the 2009 Playoffs.

I agree. They have some athletes just look at what their basketball team did this season and they had a few football players that contibuted.

In 2a. Glasgow will be up, thats the only way they can go. No offense Scotties.

Monroe lost a lot of starters but return a real good bunch of kids.

Green lost thier two powerhouses, you probably won't see much decline there though.

Metcalfe...I would have to say is back to a rebuilding cycle for a couple of years..very down.
