Next Seasons Break Out Stars.....

Featured Replies

Okay, we already know the names of Tebow, Bradford, and McCoy. Who are the players you guys think will burst onto the scene this season?

The Pryor kid from OSU has the potential to have a great season.

Does Utah get their QB back or is he gone?

Benn from Illinois will be one of the top recievers and will be trying to get himself drafted. I would expect big numbers.

Utah's QB Brian Johnson was a senior. Good player though

My potential Breakout Stars, in no particular order, are:

1. Jacory Harris, SO. QB, Miami - This is a homer pick, but ESPN insiders agree. Harris was brought along slowly last season, but still managed to lead the Canes to some come back wins. Also, besides the breakdown at the end of the Cal bowl game, he looked very good in only his second game as a starter. Harris has a natural connection with several Canes recievers, including former HS teammates Aldarius Johnson, Tommy Streeter, and Kendall Thompkins and has shown the leadership and pocket savvy that have Miami fans thinking of Ken Dorsey and Gino Torretta. With former NFL QB guru Mark Whipple calling the plays look for Harris to make a name for himself this season. He threw for nearly 1,200 yards and 12 touchdowns last year playing off the bench.

2. Who will replace Crabtree as this years big reciever? Most would say Julio Jones or maybe A.J. Green. I'm gonna say it's Oklahoma States Dez Bryant, if he is fully recovered from his bowl game injury. Though he struggle away from home last year, scoring only one of his touchdowns on the road, I think he will be lights out with Zach Robinson in the high scoring Big 12. As stated before, Arrelious Benn (who has been a personal favorite of mine since his freshman year) could take over if Juice Williams stays consistent at QB.

3. Janoris Jenkins and Ahmad Black from Florida will be lights out in the Gators secondary this year. Especially when you consider the fact that Big Nasty Brandon Spikes is back, along with virtually everyone else. I think both will be first team All- SEC defense, and expect both to have QB's throwing hurried passes in their direction.

4. While Jahvid Best is an early favorite to replace Knowshown Moreno as college football's best running back, I think another UGA Bulldog is a possible candidate. Look out for Caleb King. He is simply and bigger, stronger, and faster version of Moreno and will benefit from playing with an offensive line that is now experienced. Not to mention the fact that a new QB will have Coach Mark Richt handing the ball off more than ever.

Players who need a breakout year include:

1. Jimmy Clausen- New York or Bust for one of the biggest recruits of all-time. He has experience and good recievers. There's no more excuses.

2. Joe McKnight- Next Reggie Bush? Well...... 3 years later we're still waiting to see flashes of brilliance.

3. Noel Devine- though he has been solid, he needs to be able to back up all the hype he recieved.

4. USC Quarterbacks- Trojans have been solid at QB since Carson Palmer, who will step up this season? #1 Overall player Matt Barkley could, but I don't expect him to see the field much this season

5. Michigan and Rich Rod- Could it be two and punt in Ann Arbor is the Maze and Blue fail to reach a bowl again?

Freshman to watch

1. Russell Sheppard- QB/ATH, LSU- Many had him as the top player in the US, he will be on the field somewhere for the Tigers this season.

2. Andre DeBose- WR, Flordia- Call him Percy 2.0, mini-percy, whatever you want. Urban Meyer has big plans to use this frosh like he use to use ole #1.

3. Rueben Randle- WR, LSU- Big time reciever. Should make a Julio Jones/A.J. Green like impact on the SEC

4. Bryce Brown- RB, Tennessee- Nations most controversial recruit had better be special in Knoxville. Luckily for Lane Kiffin, he most likely is.

5. Greg Reid- CB, Florida State- Was the best player in the Under Armour All-America Game, look for him to be a shutdown CB for the Seminoles.

6. Ray Ray Armstrong- SS/OLB, Miami- DeBose's HS teammate at Seminole, is the most intriguging players in this class. Has the size to be a monster middle LB, but has the athleticism, speed, and ball skills to be what he wants to be.....the Next Sean Taylor.

I know that was long but what do you guys think? Sorry, I just love College Football

I would add Jevan Snead of Ole Miss on the list as well. While Tim Tebow is the best "player" at quarterback in the SEC, I think that Snead is the best Quarterback in the SEC. I think he will have a great year and will work his way into the top three or four quarterbacks in the Nation. I think his game will translate nicely to the NFL.

Micheal Floyd Manti T'eo

I agree, Floyd is a great receiver and a strong showing in the Hawai'i Bowl was just a preview of Floyd's ability. Also, another one to add is Juice Williams, I think they will retool and make another run at the Big 10 this season

Manti T'eo

Is this the year that T'eo will be taking his Mormon mission? I thought it was and thats why I didn't include him. He is going to be a very good player.

I heard that he would play his freshman year then he will decide to take the misson or not to.

Yeah he will be playing next year. Also I agree with Floyd and also add Golden Tate to that list.

Mitch Mustain from USC needs to have a big year. #1 overall recruit a few years ago at QB and now he has an opportunity to prove himself.

Well then add him to my list, he is a very good player. I think Floyd and Tate are nice as well.

Mustain is my pick to be the USC quarterback. He is what 8-0 as a starter? I know that was when he was at Arkansas passing 10 times a game, but he does have some experience.

I wasn't sure what he was as a starter but that does help. Also got in some blowouts last year if that counts for much.

Tyrod Taylor out of VT is a playmaker who could have some big games as well.

IF and I say IF Matt Barkley starts at USC he will be a freshman to watch.
