This is not a desirable job, not because it is Lafayette with its rich basketball history, but because it is Fayette County with no feeder programs and no commitment to excellence in athletics.

 

It is most disappointing.

It has been talked about in circles for the last couple of years that FAYETTE COUNTY is not an attractive market for coaches due to the lack of non-support by the FCBOE and direction of athletics among the feeder programs, which have been nearly cut off and minimal in development.

 

Fayette Co. schools should point the finger directly upon themselves when they begin to question the direction of their H.S. sports programs.

I understand that Fayette Co. has issues as far as their closed middle school programs but if a coach really wanted to build their feeder programs, what is to stop them from holding camps and developing an AAU program for each age level?

Another gutless decision by an administrator. Reason was to go in another direction. That is given to coaches who are allowed to recruit at the college level. No reason other than an administrator with no backbone to stand-up to parents. Coach Kelley has a passion for the game and this may be the best thing that could happen to him. He will land, in hopefully for him, a better basketball job. Fayette county used to be a hot-bed of talent. Administrators ruined that too!!

I heard that this decision was actually made sometime during midseason, after a meeting with parents, unbeknown to Coach Kelley. It's a shame when radical parents control the decisions of administrators. I wish all the best to Coach Kelley.

If thats the case thats ridiculous! I would guess that on every team in the state of Kentucky you could find atleast a couple parents who are not happy with the coach. Parents tend to have unrealistic views about whats going on.

I have worked with Coach Kelley in the past and he is all that high school coaches should be. He cares for the kids, mentors and provides for them, he teaches and prepares his kids for every game. To many administrators "clean house" to satisfy the needs of the few, when I know a lot of kids that couldn't of made it and won't without him.

So has anybody heard who the frontrunner might be for the job?

Coach Kelley being let go has created over 25 posts on Bluegrass Preps. That is a record for a basketball thread at a public school in Fayette County.

You are the very type of person that sheds a bad light on coaches and high school programs. You have put negative post about your now ex coach all season. you need to lay off Coach Fraser and his son.
