Yeah, but that would be impressive. Considering not many freshman get a chance to play varsity, and two of those few that got the chance are on this years team, it'd be a pretty impressive kid. Eager to see!

Honestly, we've heard the Maile pitching thing for two years now and it's yet to happen. Don't see it this year either. But who knows..

 

Really looking at it, aside from Isler, Nutini and Gerwe..pitching might be weaker than I thought.

Has Darner improved from last season when he pitched? I could see him as maybe the 3 or 4. I hope he does great though, it will be nice to be deep in pitching.

Don't forget Warning as an option as well. Not overpowering but being a lefty it certainly helps.

They have a lot of potential options in the pitching department and would guess they will give them all a solid shot to step in the 3 or 4 slot before they would throw Darner all that many innings. In addition, I'm not sure they have a lot of other solid options at 3B right now to fill in behind Darner.

I remember Luke playing some first, and Isler catching last year. I'd expect more of that than Luke at third. Also heard that Isler will be catching.

Cottingham could be behind the dish in double headers and other occasions, as he is the second best defensive catcher in the program. Neil Martin could also be at the hot corner if Darner is on the mound. He and Schlagbaum are probably a better option than anyone besides Darner.

Stayton or Cottingham would be fine to relieve Luke when he needs to be, as CovCath's 2nd best catcher is their 1 or 2 pitcher and first baseman and I see no need in putting him back there if there is someone good enough to handle it for a couple of innings.
