IMO after reading all the replies throughout this thread from Eky, Nky, well the whole state. Most of the comments are from the teams that really don't want the Bulldogs to win because of the fear of facing the Dawgs or because of sour grapes of Holmes run the last 5 years. :sssh: I promise the state of KY, if you come to Rupp Arena and get to watch the Bulldogs. You will be surprised of the athletic ability of these boys, who without a dought in my mind has the best defense you will ever see in High School basketball. That is straight up man to man defense. No zone-:taz:-Period!!! Any player on that court, "not just the starters" they get so low in a defensive position and will be in your chest throughout your movement of the ball :isurrender: is that of no other high school team I have seen. I have heard fans say the Dawgs don't score enough to win down state and your team ave's 70 or 80. It won't happen if they play the Bulldogs. :thumb: Then you will hear other fans say, they only ave 60 pts. a game. I have been to 30 of the 34 games this year.(My bad Dawgs for missing 4 :lol:) I have seen throughout NKy the teams slow the ball down all the time. I can probably count about 10 times where a team didn't get to shoot a shot after half time for a full 2 minutes. Almost the whole ninth region had to slow the game down because they thought it was the only way to be able to run with the Bulldogs. If the opposing team holds the ball from 45 seconds to 2 min. There won't be many high scoring games. :idunno: So in closing, I am heading south to Rupp next Wed. Plan to bring my son. I was at the game Tues. with BC and also saw them play Scott Co. earlier in the year. I will be there at Rupp watching also.

When is the last time Holmes played a game where they got out and ran? I only remember one fast break in the Boone game and Holmes had a 2 on 1 but the bounce pass went through the other player's hands and out of bounds back to Boone. I was expecting a lob dunk.

 

Last time they got out and ran was against Beechwood in the district championship. Beechwood wanted to run but Holmes was too quick and got back on D which forced the Tigers in to some bad shots. Holmes ended up winning by 21, 64-43.

 

I've heard several people in this thread talk about Wilson and Wilford. Let's not forget Holmes has quite a few studs themselves. Looking at CC's schedule, I'm fairly confident Wilford and Wilson haven't gone up against a team that had players like Rico, JJ, Riley, and Pittman.

 

From what I remember of Wilson, he is tall but very lanky and skinny. I think Rico's strength and size is going to give him a lot of problems. Same with Wilford. D. Johnson plays the best man to man defense on Holmes' team IMO. He's very physical on that end of the floor and I see that frustrating Wilford and taking him out of his game.

 

It may be close for a while, but Holmes will eventually pull away...too many weapons for CC to shut down.

I agree...I think regardless of who won the 9th, whether it be Holmes or Boone, we would have seen our rep in the second round.

All I can say is I can't wait to see these mythical, muscular, giants of Holmes plucking quarters off the tops of the backboards making all other teams look like mere muchkins in OZ.

If they can work up the nerve to show up, I think they might force Holmes to break a sweat. I could be wrong though.

I'll take Holmes in a close one, but I think the score will be in the high 50's.
