Holmes 47 Newport Central Catholic 38

We can certainly agree to disagree. I based my comment on several games seen over the past couple of years. It isn't any particular ref/game...just a generalization that I've come to notice.

It goes both ways. No way they get more calls than the other teams. Matter of fact, during the Jefferson, Hill, Rice era they got whistled for A LOT because of a few players reputations.

This year Rice has been called for several technicals fouls...Holmes definetly doesn't get any "star treatment" like you say. Even in the Highlands game they were whistled for a lot. Matter of fact, Highlands was in the bonus midway through the 3rd quarter while Holmes didn't reach it until around 3 or 4 minutes left in the game. If teams get whistled for a lot of fouls against Holmes it's honestly because they aren't quick or athletic enough to defend them. It has nothing to do with Holmes receiving special treatment...come on, we're talking about hs kids DMZ..not NBA players.

I agree with you Obie.... I think we found our lost child! If you watch close enough Holmes does a lot of inside Jersey holding and arm locking that does not get called. So yes, they do get away with some fouls that should be obviously called, and I am sure there are other teams out there that do also.

Every team does it...even your beloved Boone County Rebels. IMO all nky teams get away with a lot more than they should. I watched NCC players grab and hold Pittman and several other Holmes players just as much as Holmes was doing it to them. Refs don't decide the games....the players do. Let's not sit here and act like they're 31-2 heading in to tonight because they got special treatment from the refs all year.:rolleyes:

Reading the last few post has made my wife ask, what is soooo funny? I ask her to read a couple, and she to began laughing. Holmes getting calls? Holmes getting away with fouls? Comedy central right here on BGP, I love it.

Here is why people think Holmes gets calls ... because they want the refs to call EVERYTHING on Holmes. They want Holmes to lose and they are looking for every ticky tack contact to be called a foul. Honestly people, if you want Holmes to lose you do not want the refs to call it close. If there is no touching or contact allowed, that means athleticism and quickness win. Who has the most athleticism and quickness? If you want Holmes to lose, root for no whistles and a lot of contact. Play them as physical as you can, keep bodies on them non stop on D and make the game a meat grinder.

I will say it again. This is how it is called at Rupp. The 9th region officials call way too many tick tack fouls and that is why the 9th has not faired to well down state. Henly's schedule intentionally exposes Holmes to other region's officials and thus their recent success at Rupp. Again Holmes was called for more fouls against NCC. The 16th region officials are outstanding IMO and the players have decided the games as it should be.
