Very stunning performance by both the Royals and our Mustangs.

 

We were simply overwhelmed in the first half, and shocked to find ourselves trailing 33-2 at one point. While we are certainly not proud of that performance on either end of the court, what is, is. Hats off to Coach O'Hearn and his Royals who might just be peaking at the right time.

 

In my opinion the Royals have continued to improve on a game-to-game basis and today the "perfect storm" of circumstances came together on the grand stage at NKU and the Mustangs, who might have earned the respect of the Royals from our performance back on February 17th, were the victims of a team on a mission, utilizing all of their tools to completly execute and annihilate their challengers, who were unable to get into any semblance of offense in the first half, while dissecting the Mustang defense to simply run away and hide.

 

It will be interesting to see if the Royals come close to duplicating this effort against the Montgomery County Indians on Monday night.

 

Our Mustangs had their moments this season and will live to remember the good times as the memory of this devestating loss fades into the past.

 

I still haven't gotten over Brossart losing to Augusta this season.:confused:

That is exactly what I said to people sitting near me. I have not seen a team come out with that kind of focus, they were on a mission. If they continue that focus, I believe they will return to Rupp.

Mason's defense was awesome. Bigger, stronger, quicker gave Brossart fits trying to bring the ball up the floor. Even when the Mustangs got the ball past half court, there were very few open looks at the basket.

If Mason County beats them by 29 on Tuesday, they'll still be the region favorites next year and Jonathan Fraysure will get verbally abused again if he picks Mason County to win the region in 2010.

 

Again, I just can't believe somebody had such nerve back in October to predict that little ol' state champion Mason County might have a chance in this region, with the mighty Clark County Cardinals and all.

I give all the credit in the world to Treg Setty being the most improved player in the 10th and probably in the state from last year to this. But there's still no way anyone in the preseason should have picked Mason over GRC. Setty's improvement and GRC's injuries were not predictable...

Mason had a lot of adults watching the game but NO student section. BBHS had a nice student body representation filling about 2/3 of their section (much better than any other school on Saturday) . It will be interesting to see what it looks like tomorrow night for the semis. Maybe Mason thought it would be a blow out and didn't bother to make the trip north? I do think Tuesday will have a very nice crowd regardless of who plays.
