I found this after I read your post. $680k goes against the salary cap but $9.6M counts as "dead money."

 

What's the difference as far as how much money that leaves Dallas to pay others?

A few things after the dust has settled:

1. Cowboys saved 1.5 mill after letting him and Roy go.

2. The majority of teams have said they are not interested before they start getting linked. 29 teams not interested already which leaves Oakland, Tenn (interesting since he was at UTC Chat), Saints. Oakland looks like the only one really interested. He has made his bed and now he will lay in it.

Teams like the Vikes won't bite because Childress hates him! Jacks wouldn't pay Coles money and he is a hometown boy so they are out. It's Oakland or nothing until his price goes WAY down. Interesting talent Oak would have but he could KILL a young QB.

Tenn is really interesting. Bucs might be a longshot. Den or St Lou longshots.

3. I don't know anybody that wouldn't want his productivity without his baggae but 3 teams same story.

4. As a Cowboys fan I am glad they have cleaned house! No T.O., No Pac, No Tank it is now about team! If you are into watching stars then this one hurts. If you are into winning championships then I think the team chemistry just got SOOOOOOO much better! Phillips can now coach, Romo can now go through progressions etc. I wouldn't be a bit suprised to see Torry Holt a Cowboy. He isn't what he used to be with the bad knee. Thing is Dallas has an outstanding stable of backs, arguably the best TE (top2), a guy that used to be a #1 in Williams (a lot to prove). That would keep Holt from being doubled every play. This is also the deepest draft of WR's in a long long time.

Wish Dallas had a lot of picks to go after Crabtree!

Patriots and Eagles may be interested. I would LOVE to see him with Moss just not sure how it would turn out.

I'm with you that he is a complete WR that will go over the middle. I don't know that he isn't part of the problem. He is a sideshow and I think the teams winning championships have shown lately that sideshow me players don't get it done. NY go rid of their and won...Pitt's=team....Pats = ulitmate team...Colts=team... no sideshows on those teams. This hurts on the surface because he is a stud but in the long run with a young QB I think it is good for the franchise to lose guys like him + Pac no matter the talent. They have 3 STUD RB's, one of the best 2 TE's in the game, a good #2 I just don't know why they didn't try to trade him for a draft pick. How much would the folks in Tex love them if they got Crabtree!!!!!!!!

This is the best draft for WR's in a long time I think.

 

Hey stick, I'm tired of everybody talking about chemistry. Everybody is talking about teams letting some people who were allegedly "sideshows" or "distractions" go and then they win a championship. There have been plenty of championships that have been won when there was no chemistry and a lot of "sideshows" or "distractions" but I guess people have forgotten about that. Dallas had plenty of "sideshows" and "distractions" when they were winning in the 90's so what does that say about this theory. It doesn't matter if you have chemistry, get along, or anything. When it's time to work, do your job and then afterward you go home if you want or you party. Plain and simple, I don't care who says what, or does what as long as they do their jobs. That is what you are going to get paid for. Now if they were bashing T.O. for not showing up for practice, not practicing hard when he was there, or not playing hard, I have a problem with that. As a boss that is all I would be looking at anyway, but that isn't being said about T.O. and to be honest that is all that matters. Anything else being said is totally irrelevant. These guys are professionals being played to practice hard and play hard. Chemistry might have a point in college or in high school but not on the professional level. Just do your job is my only concern. I wouldn't even worry about what happens off the field. They are professionals and grown men who know the law. If they get locked up they better make it to practice or the game and then let the law deal with it. Just like regular corporate America.

Honestly, I could see the Patriots signing him to a one year deal to see what would happen.

Stick, their 90's teams had stars. I left you a reply on page 2 but to add to that point. I'm sure at work, stick, you have been a part or lead complaints between co-workers that something isn't right. This person has this job and they don't know what they are doing or that person has this job and doesn't know either. Or if I was in charge I would do it this way or that way. What I'm saying is that everybody has had a gripe about his or her job, complained about a co-worker or not liking them for some odd reason, or has talked about their supervisors or bosses. That is human nature. Everybody has done it but the question is how many people do you know who have used this as an excuse to not do their work or do it the right way? People can talk all they want but they aren't going to let their work suffer because someone is always stirring the pot. At least T.O. had the guts to actually making a complaint which a lot of people don't do because of fear. Isn't that what leaders are supposed to do???

 

Now what makes T.O. any different than anybody else. The man works harder than anybody and he has done a whole lot in the league. You don't think he has a problem working his rear off and Romo, who could stand to lose a couple of pounds, is saying if we win, we win, if we lose, we lose, it's not the end of the world. Come on stick if you think that T.O. was the problem then we will see.

 

Aikman had a lot of stars and looked what he did. The Cowboys of the 90's had more problems, stars, and egos than the Cowboys of now. The also had a strong minded coach who would take up for them and punish them in the same breath. They would do anything for Jimmy because of the firm but fair attitude plus Jimmy had that ego thing also right along with his boys. That is what made people hate the Boys and they need to get back to that. I'm going to take talent over this good boy fad any day. Jimmy also knew how to deal with his stars. He had rules for the rest of the team and had separate rules for his stars. If Jerry wouldn't have butted in he would have a whole lot more rings. So don't blame all of this on T.O. because that isn't the case. T.O. didn't throw those interceptions when Romo was forcing the ball to Witten against the Steelers and T.O. wasn't under throwing or throwing over the heads of receivers in that game either.
