Corbin by 20+ too much for Harlan County.

This right here is the key. The way Corbin is set up this year, they are like a Louisville school playing in the mountains. They are such an odd matchup for teams because they play like no other team except a select few are used to seeing.

 

Corbin has been the best team in it several years and didn't win it, so I am guessing someone will beat them again. Who knows who but someone will!

That thought has lingered in the back of my mind, too, but surely they have enough talent to get over the hump this season.

 

If they don't win it this season, Pietrowski fans will wilt.

Corbin has a ton of good players no doubt they should win this game and the region as well. But, strange things happen when its a one loss and your out deal. In the end only one girls team and one boys team end up winners anyway.

If you look back since South Laurel joined the 13th I would disagree.

 

2005-2006 South Laurel was loaded with talent. Coming off their state tournament championship they had Walt Allen and the big three. Barbourville probably was the second most talented team.

 

2006-2007 South Laurel had the big three, and a host of talented role players. Bell was the second most talent team in the region, just behind South Laurel. Pineville, Cumberland and Corbin were a toss up this year in my opinion.

 

2007-2008 I actually think that Knox Central had the most talent in the region. I believe they beat south that year. (Williamson, Scalf, Miller, and Messer) South and Corbin were about equal in talent level, only because Crawford had the injury and seemed out of shape. Jones and Bortnum (sp?) both were great players and St. Johns was a load.

 

2008-2009 I think Corbin is tops in talent followed by Middlesboro and Knox.

I would agree with your statement 100%

If South is eliminated by another team, Corbin walks through the region. If South makes it to the finals, it will be a dog fight.

 

Corbin is more talented and generally better than every other team in the region, but it is a mind game between Corbin and South.

 

Knox Central is better than you think.

I believe that the only way to measure who had the best team in any given year is by what they do at tournament time. I think Corbin has had its fair share of good teams, but only great teams make it to the Sweet 16. Hard to say as a Redhound fan, but as a basketball fan its the only objective view imo.

I agree. KC is better than people give them credit for. I think they can make some noise if the ball bounces their way a time or two.

Corbin has way to much talent in this one, but again the Harlan Co. kids play hard, but do not have a big scoring option. I still am anxious to see how the Hounds play after beating HC by 30 in the regular season and what tricks the veteran Jones has under his hat for this game. Stranger things have happened in the 13th region.

I heard from people that were at the games last night that if Corbin plays physical with teams, they should run away with this tournament. This was from an unbiased fan from Knox County. He told me these refs are allowing everything in this tournament. That would definitely benefit Crawford and Manns.

 

Also, is the radio station out of London doing the broadcast online again? What was that station and if not them, anyone know where I can listen to the game?
