McCreary led by as many as ten in the first half, and by nine at the break. Southwestern stormed back to tie it at the end of three. McCreary started to collapse in the fourth and fell behind by as many as six, before making a rally in the final 1:28 and with a Dixon three, took a 50-49 lead. Southwestern responded to 51-50, before McCreary took the lead back at 52-51 with a pair of Watts free throws. McCreary intercepted the inbounds pass and Watts was fouled with :13 ticks left on the clock. The junior nailed them both and McCreary hung on after a Southwestern three banged off the rim.

 

Roark was fouled with :01 left on the clock and missed the front end, but on the rebound, Woolridge for Southwestern threw up a heave from McCreary's free-throw line after the buzzer, ending the game.

McCreary's fans traveled very, very well. Doors were scheduled to open at 6, and with a crowd of Raider fans packed at the entrance, the doors were opened at 5:40. Quickly, McCreary filled their side with fans, eventually spilling over in the end zones of the court before Southwestern filled half of theirs.

 

The McCreary players played with heart to start, and end the game. After McCreary stole the inbounds pass that basically sealed the deal, the Raiders motioned for the crowd to their feet and all fed off of each other and were very, very happy.

Good game. With the history of the past two seasons seemingly coming back to haunt the Raiders as they let the lead slip away and trailed by six, they bounced back and made the plays down the stretch. The steal by Dixon was the big play I thought, Without it Southwestern has the ball down one just like last year.

I couldn't believe how McCrearys #43 was able to keep scoring against the size Southwestern has in the middle but he flat took it to them in the first half. Can he usually make those type shots? It's like he just holds the ball out and throws it up there because otherwise it would get blockedbut it keppt going in.

Congrats to the Raiders for pulling it out and Congrats to Southwestern, you came a long ways from losing everyone two seasons ago to geing as good as anyone in the region. It's a shame they don't get to play in the region but obviously one very deserving team has to go home. It's also the first time since being in the district with Wayne, McCreary and Monticello that the Warriors have missed the regional.

Congrats to the Raiders on getting over the hump. It is widely believed that the hardest win to get is that one in the first round of the District, they could well be the team to beat in the Region now. Sounds like a great game, I would have liked to have watched but figured with it being in that small of a gym that seats would be hard to come by.

I think they just had to prove to themselves that they could get there. Sometimes that can be a huge hurdle; Garrard is struggling with the same thing. If they could just get there, they can win. I'm not picking McCreary just yet, but they'll be a tough out in Stanford.

Great Job by Coach Jones last night with the adjustments made when SW went on their run. Roark was a beast in the paint! The Raiders played with fire last night. They wanted it badly and they went and got it. It was a GREAT high school basketball game!! One that I am glad I was there to watch..:popcorn: GREAT JOB RAIDERS!!!!! :clap:

This was the hump that the Raiders needed to get over. In the second half, Southwestern's zone kept Roark scoreless, who had 15 in the first half. He is a strong kid.

 

The Raiders will be very, very tough come district time. Last night, they only played 6 players and that's because Wright was in foul trouble. Jones said on the radio last night that he expects them to play 7 or 8 against Wayne because they do pressure.

Sounds like a great game, I would have liked to have watched but figured with it being in that small of a gym that seats would be hard to come by.

 

The seats were packed on the Raiders side but SW side did have some that you would have been able to sit in. It was really a great game played with a lot of heart by both teams. This was one I was really glad I got to go watch. Wayne will be tough and I'd say the seats Sat will be hard to come by. Best to luck to Raider Rob and the Raiders! :ylsuper:
