Funny story that I once heard from the mouth of Russell Coach Ivan McGlone, when he was talking about Former Raceland Coach Bill Tom Ross. Coach Ross tried for years to get McGlone to participate in 7 on 7, Coach McGlone did not want to, because he did not see a benefit for a team that only passes two or three times a game to have 7 on 7 competitions. One year Ross finally convinced McGlone to put Russell in a 7 on 7 competition.

 

McGlone asked Ross what he was supposed to do, Ross told him that there were no linemen, and that every play was a pass, each team worked on passes, and each defense worked on their pass defense. McGlone said, he didn't know about this, he was a running coach.

 

Russell's first game was against Raceland. Raceland was on offense first, the first play of the 7 on 7 competition, Ross ran a draw play. McGlone was screaming, "You told me, all the plays were passes". Ross screamed back to him, "I have to keep you honest".

I was trying to be funny. I know Coach Copley is a "3 yards and a cloud of dust" type coach. I think I would have to have my eyes checked if I saw GC in the shot gun this season.

The Russell vs Greenup game may be the fastest game played in our area this season. Heck, you could watch that entire game and leave and watch the second half of the Raceland vs Ashland game!:lol:

The only time GC won't be under center will be in punt formation. I hope that's not to often this season. Greenup Vs. Russell game will be a running clock.:lol: I plan on watching both games.:thumb:
